Exterior motion light feedback to an Insteon device?

Hello all. I am about to install a RAB Lighting STL360HBW Super Stealth 360 Sensor with HB101 Bullet Floods above my garage door. I will also be running 10-15 feet of new electrical to a newly installed exterior box above the garage that the light will be mounted to.

The RAB motion sensor connects to the neutral and hot wire, the flood light white wires go to neutrals and the black wires go to the red wire from the motion sensor. The motion sensor sends power to the red wire when motion is detected turning on the lights.

Is there any way to have an ISY triggered in some way to send me a message that the light has been turned on when motion is sensed? Can I run a wire back from the motion sensors red wire to an insteon device to then have that insteon device see power and trigger the message?

As always, thank you in advance!

Hi Jerry-

Yes. The device usually used for this is an InlineLinc with Sense.

EDIT: Inlinelinc W/Sense appears to be discontinued and replaced with the MicroModule OnOff with Sense:

Xathros,

Any idea if running a wire back to my interior box to the inlinelinc would be the way to go? I would only have to run the hot from the motion sensor as the neutral will already be in the box (inside the garage).

OR

Would I simply leave the inlinelinc in the exterior box?

The micro module is small enough to likely fit in the exterior box. I see no need to move it back inside as long as your box will be weather tight.

Since your exterior box is most likely metal, any RF signal from the micro module would me massively diminished. Might be a reason to run the wires back inside to a plastic box that the RF can pass through easier. The micro module will also put it on the power line, so it may very well be a moot point in your installation.

For my bathroom radiant heat matt, I opted to use a plastic box that a ceiling light mounts too, vs putting in a water proof metal box just for the enhanced RF range that a plastic box should have vs metal.

Thank you for your suggestions. I ran just a two wire since I had 50ft of it. As long as the micro switch sends the signal over the powerline, it should be good. The box is metal and water proof so l go with the exterior location. Now if smarthome would give another decent discount I can order a bunch of new insteon pieces!
