2845-222 Hidden Door Sensor

Mike-

I think this would be better:

If
Control '2845 - Door Sensor' is switched On
Or Control '2845 - Door Sensor' is switched Off

Then
Wait 25 hours
Resource 'DoorSensorNotResponding'

Else
- No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

This way and action from the sensor will re-trigger the 25 hour wait open or close. If you have a startup program, you would also want to add a runThen of this program to your startup to start the countdown after a system startup otherwise you could miss a failure of the sensor.

Ok, I can confirm that the 2845-222 V1.1 does send a heartbeat, I just seen it flash the RED LED while sitting here. It did not send an 'On' command since this program did not fire. After noticing the LED flash I picked up the sensor and pressed the button, received the Prowl notification and the above program is currently in the Running 'Then' state.

The Heartbeat uses a different Group number and the Low Battery also uses a different Group number.

If the PLM does not have those links in its database. Even if the message is sent. It will not be seen. Because the On or Off was sent with that Group Number.

Brian,

Aware that is the case. Michel has verified there are some issues with detecting the device when adding.

Just posting the information to confirm that it does in fact transmit something in another Group periodically.

Over the years I have provided critical feed back to Smarthome via their forums, surveys, and direct e-mails, about the lack of communications to their third party vendors. My hope was in the future this lack of communication would be resolved.

Its clear to me and millions of others around the world this company continues to fall short in this simple, yet critical area! :|

There is never any mention of extra features, groups, programming, or why firmware updates occur. Its incredible that this company continues to operate and stay in business?

Thanks Teken!

For those who have issues with Open/Close sensor, please try forcing the linkage to use Open/Close sensor (instead of Auto Discover) and please let me know what you find.

We are trying to devise a solution for this anomaly. It's really quite a challenge trying to figure out what the device type is when it's reported incorrectly.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

I just received three 2845-222 Hidden Door Sensors from SmartHome. I added them to ISY choosing the dropdown 2845-222 INSTEON Door Sensor and it only added one Node. All three are labeled V1.1 like my original purchased back in December.

Another comment I would like to make is whatever I enter in the Name field of the 'New INSTEON Device' screen is ignored and the device is named the address with 'Door Sensor' appended, ie. '2B.0F.03.1 - Door Sensor'

Firmware and UI are both v.4.1.2 ( 2014-01-13-23:20:00 )

Hi Mike,

Thanks so very much for the update. So, they do add correctly and behave correctly when forced to be added as 2845-222?

I must admit that we found a bug in the firmware which incorrectly assigns the type as TriggerLinc. This is an intermittent issue and fixed in the next release. This said, I am not entirely certain that what we fixed is what has been reported.

With kind regards,

Michel

Both my v1.0 and my v1.1 sensors add to the ISY as door sensors using auto-discovery.

I powered up my HouseLinc install and added a v1.1 to it. It does allow for configuration of the heartbeat interval along with a node for the heartbeat and low-battery warning.

shannong,

Thank you for posting. Hopefully this will assist the UDI team in adding this functionality to the ISY in a future release. I now have four of these installed throughout the house. :)

I turned HL logging on Verbose (highest level) in hopes of seeing the actual heartbeat message but nothing shows up. Other on/off messages appear so I'm pretty sure I'm looking at the right log. However, I'm new to HL and don't really use it for anything except for occasional troubleshooting.

I really wish there was an Insteon probe and protocol analyzer.

Not sure why the heartbeats weren't registering at first but they are now. Hers's everything related I could find in the logs. It's taken from 3 different log files hence the 3 blocks with overlapping time stamps.

Thanks to Steve for helping me get one of these installed on Sunday, March 30. That's active tech support. Problem was my Insteon thermostats (5) broadcasting and loading down the network. Disabled them and then it linked OK as a Trigger link. Works fine with thermostats on, just would not link. UDI needs to look at giving users access to the broadcast parameters of the Insteon thermostats through the UI, since the broadcast params are not accessible via buttons.

THANKS AGAIN STEVE!!!!!

I believe this shows the group numbers of the heartbeat and low-battery.

Just loaded Firmware 4.2.0, cleared Java cache and confirmed my UI is 4.2.0. Deleted then re-added one of my Hidden Door Sensors. Unfortunately I see no additional Nodes to reference Heartbeat or Low Battery Groups, just the one as in Firmware 4.1.2.

Hi Michel,

It is reporting as a (2845-222) INSTEON Hidden Door Sensor v.43, for me the same as in prior release. I can post the level 3 Event Viewer trace of the add if you wish.

Hi Michel,

That is at least verifying what I see. Hopefully it will make your next revision. :D

I know you have numerous other more pressing issues to deal with at the moment. At least my firmware upgrade went smoothly and I am due to receive my Z-Wave assembly kit from you this Friday. Keep up the great work!

Thank you,

~Mike

Hi Michel,

I know the UDI team is working hard on Z-Wave implementation and very happy progress is being made there. Just wished to check on the status of the Hidden Door Sensor and the lack of Heartbeat / Low-Battery information in the ISY. I deleted / added one of my sensors with no changes seen in v4.2.1.

Thanks,

~Mike

  • 1 month later...

Just wanted to report that Heartbeat is working on all four of my Hidden Door Sensors in v4.2.3 :D

I have the Heartbeats set to report every 21 hours. Here is one of the programs I am using.

If
Control 'Door Sensors / Front Door / Front Door - Heartbeat' is switched On
Or Control 'Door Sensors / Front Door / Front Door - Heartbeat' is switched Off

Then
       Wait 24 hours
       Resource 'FrontDrSensorNotResponding'

Else
  - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')

I have another program to run all Then paths at startup.

  • 3 weeks later...

I have a Hidden Door Sensor that only registers Opened and Closed devices.

I'm not running 4.2.5, how can I get the battery warning and heartbeat devices to show up? Do I need to remove and re-add the device?

Thanks.

Jeff
