EricK Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Hello, I added an 8 button KPL, non-dual band and was able to rename the KPL buttons. I tried this for a new 6-button dual band KPL and after renaming each button there is no update to the new name. Advice please. Eric
LeeG Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 What ISY firmware is being used? I renamed a 6 button KPL button on 4.1.1
EricK Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 I just upgraded to 4.1.0, but it still does not hold. I made a scene, and am trying to delete it. I removed all devices, but I do not see anywhere to delete it. I guess I can just rename it and use it for something else. Edit: Once a device is added to a scene I do not see how to change its controller/responder status. E
LeeG Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Click Help | About, what is displayed for Firmware line? What is displayed for UI line? A device usage cannot be changed once added to Scene. Delete the device and add it back as needed. Why was the ISY image not updated to 4.1.1?
EricK Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Lee, 4.1.0 for both firmware and UI. I have an older 8 button Kpl in the movie room that has been added to multiple scenes for which I can still change Kpl button names. For the newer 6 button dual band I cannot Rename the buttons. This was the case before I added the buttons to scenes. E
Michel Kohanim Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Hi EricK, I think there a couple of issues here: a) you cannot delete a scene and you cannot rename. First of all, please do make sure you get status updates for all your devices. i.e. go to Tools | Diagnostics | Event Viewer, change the level to 3, turn on/off any of your devices and see whether or not you see any traffic. If not, then I suspect: either firewall software on your computer blocking ISY from publishing events to the Admin Console or Java cache issue. I would definitely start with Java cache: 1. Clear your Java cache: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/plugin_cache.xml 2. Go to http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/4.1.1/admin.jnlp In case of firewall, either use https to communicate with ISY (instead of http) or configure your firewall to exclude ISY and include it in the trusted zone list. And, finally: 1. To remove a node: a) it can NOT be inside a folder right mouse click | Delete 2. To rename a node: right mouse click | Rename With kind regards, Michel

I tried to add onto this name "KPL Basement Steps (DB) - D". After clearing the cache, accessing the ISY via your link, rather than via "y.universal-devices.com/99i", I checked traffic which was fine. Last week I developed a problem with my system, not sure what happened, but a couple of my non dual band kpls buttons lost their toggle modes, and I had some communication problems with half lincs showing on a houselinc report for my smartlinc and PLM. I think the PLM is the problem. Last night in the movie room the kpl buttons that I programmed with the ISY were not holding toggle states. With the changes I just made, they now work fine. Please help with this code. When either scene 1 or scene 2 is turned on by a kpl press (Non-toggle on for both buttons) I want the kpls to turn off. I made a scene, "movie scene KPLs off" with both buttons included and set the on level for both to be off. Do I set the scene on or off in the program: If Control 'Theater / Theater Devices / KPL Movie Steps - A - Steps / KPL Movie Steps - C - Scene 1' is switched On Or Control 'Theater / Theater Devices / KPL Movie Steps - A - Steps / KPL Movie Steps - D - Scene 2' is switched On Then Set Scene 'Theater / Movie Scene KPLs off' Off Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action') The ISY is great. Not so hard to use, a move I wish I had made a long time ago. My favorite thing so far is the program. I set the landscape lights to be on during a certain time, else off. With HL, there would be two events, a trigger on and a trigger off. If the trigger time was missed because HL crashed, then the lights would not be in the correct state. Thank you for your help. 13 devices added so far so I have a ways to go. Eric
LeeG Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 Turn the Scene Off. KPLs with firmware before v.40 cannot have Secondary KPL buttons turned Off (On Level 0%) with an On command. The point is to turn the KPL buttons Off so use the Off command. Insteon does not allow multiple Scenes to be running at the same time. It may be necessary to add a Wait of 1-2 seconds before issuing the Scene Off in the Program. This allows the Scene driven from pressing the KPL button to complete before the Program issues the Set Scene 'xxxxx' Off.
EricK Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Lee, Great advice on the delay for the program to trigger the scene. I set it up but I'll have to see if this works. In HL I usually set the responders to my all off scene to turn on. The scene was then triggered by a non-toggle off KPL, so all responders turned off. A little counter intuitive, but anytime I recommended this to other users it worked for them. Thanks, Eric
