When attempting to test my email in Configuration, then Emails/Notification and then selecting Test, I get the error message shown in the attached file. What am I likely doing wrong and how do I go about correcting the problem?

I don't think you have the gmail smtp server named correctly. Do a google search for the correct server name. I think it might be smtp.gmail.com.

 

Also check for the correct port.

The wiki shows the correct way to setup to use gmail's SMTP server:

Port = 587 and TLS is checked.

 

But I think this is only usable if you have a gmail account in the USER ID field (and the corresponding password in the password field).
