Device List, Topology

Hi,

Is there a way to generate a simple device list. I did generate the topology, but there is too much info. I would eliminate the relationships column as well as individual kpl button rows. When I paste the data into excel, the relationships are on separate rows with merged cells, so just deleting the column leaves multi line cells for most devices. I can manually unmerge the cells and delete extra lines, but that is a lot of work. I added a bunch of devices and want to get a good inventory of everything.

Thanks,

Eric

Eric; I just fired mine up to see, and it looks rather simple to me. I also don't have a bunch of devices on there though.

Could you upload your HTML file and I'll take a quick look at it. Also expand on your simple device list thoughts for what you would like to actually see (I'm assuming you want to see Name/Address/Type).

Second pic is the topology, originally opened in chrome, highlighted, pasted special into excel.

First pic is after I removed merged cells and tried to shrink the data down into a list. I really only want one line for each KPL,

just a simple device list. I did a copy paste from one of the screens in hl to get my device addresses which made adding them to the ISY much easier.I really just want to know what I have.

Maybe, but I dont know how to set up a GET, never had to. You can pull from rest/nodes/devices, but it looks like it would still include each kpl button separately. I just took a look at excel and can pull the html info, but could not figure out how to just pull the device name, id.

I was able to get excel to GET all of the data from rest/nodes/devices into a spreadsheet. This is helpful. I can easily delete columns that are not needed. I think there is a way to group the data to collapse kpls into one line, but I have not figured that out yet.

There are lots of things you can do in excel, but I would need you to upload the actual files, unedited. The screenshots do not import so well ; ).

Here is the excel sheet for my GET, only first device listed. I can't figure out how to group this into one line if possible. I also just realized that it did not pull the entire device ID 15.07.03. Actually will not allow me to attach and xls file. Here is a pic of what I would have posted.

Not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish, so here are a few thoughts ...

If you are trying to use the Excel "group" function to make the KPL a collapsible tree, that feature is under "Data->Group". You select the lines you want to make collapsible, then select "Group".

By default, the group collapses upside down from what I usually want, so I usually go into the "Outline" menu (click the little down/right arrow next to "Outline") and uncheck the "Summary rows below total" checkbox before selecting "Group".

Another option is to "hide" the rows in excel, you can just select the rows, then right click and select "Hide".

A third option is to create a script (prior to opening in excel) to remove the " - B" through " -H" lines.

KMan,

I just want to get a list of device types, names, and addresses for inventory purposes. This way I know exactly what is in the house. I figured out the group feature, just do it from the B button down so it leaves the A in the list.
