modex Posted January 11, 2014 Posted January 11, 2014 I am trying to set up the gc-100 with my isy. And somehow i missed the need to have a gc-ire or gc-irl in addition to the gc-100. Is there a way to work around this extra piece of hardware? Can I not use the ethernet slot on the gc-100 to communicate with my system? (the gc-100 is showing up on my network via ethernet). maybe an android app…or using my harmony ultimate hub? Also, is this hardware only needed for setup?, or will i need it to use the device, and thus have only 1 available serial port available? if i do need the hardware, would you recommend buying the gc-ire or the gc-irl? I am looking for Any way to avoid waiting another week to spend more money to order more stuff I did not know i needed? sorry, I am just a bit frustrated at continually discovering new ways that I am ignorant on all things tech.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 Hi modex, Can you please let me know what you are trying to achieve? I have never come across the need for two GCs but without knowing what you're trying to do is a little difficult to figure out what you need. With kind regards, Michel
modex Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 Trying to connect my ps3, tv, fits box and Visio amp to my isy. As I understand the go-ire/irl is needed to connect my gc100 to my isy, as it does not have the built in serial to digital like the newer itach models.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 Hi modex, I am not sure what you mean. Many have used GC100 with ISY: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index ... che_GC-100 The main question is not integration with ISY but whether or not the equipment you are trying to communicate with require IR vs. Serial. With kind regards, Michel
