Can't log in, now what?

I am using the latest beta software. That release isn't quite ready for prime time, but at least it works with my Keypadlink. Last night I tried on two different PCs to log in and it won't. I just get a blank interface screen with no opportunity to log in.

The programs still work, I just can't log in.

Generally speaking, the the ISY is quite sluggish. Is there a chance that I have a defective unit?

Hey Jay -

If you haven't, please try closing all your browsers, clearing your Java cache (through your Windows Control Panel), and then trying again. I have a feeling that will clear up your issue.

As for sluggishness, could you describe it in more detail? What about it seems sluggish, or what are you trying to do that seems sluggish?

Good luck, and please let me know how you make out.

thanks for the quick reply (on both forums!)

Tonight I'll try your suggestion.

The sluggish feel is when switching between the tabs. If I go from the first tab, I forgot what it's called, to the Program details tab it takes about 5 seconds to switch.

One time I went to program summary tab and I was booted off! I had to log back in again. I haven't used that tab since.

In 2008 I expect anything computer related to be fast.

The other slow part which may be an Insteon issue, is how long it takes to add a device.

I get about a 2 second delay the first time I switch off the 'Main' tab and onto one of the other tabs, but from that point forward it's very quick switching between tabs on my office PC.

I haven't had that happen before.

Yes, unfortunately it does take some time to program Insteon devices over the powerline, especially when you start programming more complex scenes containing many devices. That's an Insteon issue, I haven't found the ISY any slower than any other methods I've used to program the devices.

Sure does beat running around and manually tap-linking everything, though!

The first time you switch to either the Program Summary tab or the Program Details tab, all of your programs are loaded. The length of time required depends on the number of your programs. Once loaded, switching between tabs should appear instantaneous.

That would be due to a time out (which could happen on either tab). You can telnet to ISY and adjust your timeout tolerance with the CWT (Configure Webserver Timeouts) command in the shell. In short, please don't have any fear of using the Program Summary tab!

I tried closing all the browsers, then I cleared the Java cache (I didn't even know it was there), then rebooted the PC.

That didn't solve the problem.

I unplugged the ISY and let is sit for for a minute, then plugged it back in. I am now able to log in.

I hope this won't be a pattern. If it is then maybe I'll need remote relay to re-boot it every so often.

thanks for the help :)

Hi Jay,

This should not be a pattern. Please make sure to let us know if this happens again so that we can diagnose the root cause.

Thanks so very much for your patience,

With kind regards,

Michel
