ISY's in Separate Homes

I have an ISY994i IR Pro in my primary residence. It is controlled using a Mac running Maverick's. I would like to change out the SmartLinc 2412n in a second home at a remote location and control it using the same Mac and an ISY994i. Are there any special challenges with this setup?

Nope. Pick up an ISY-994 and a new 2413 s PLM for the remote location. Install, enable port forwarding for the ISY through your router and possibly set up a ddns account and configure router to use it. You will want to factory reset the insteon devices before adding them to the new ISY. This will eliminate the links to the Smartlink.

Both will use the same. It does mean that you will need to keep the firmware in sync between the two ISY's so that the Admin console version can match the firmware in both ISY's.

You will simply add the other ISY's remote URL to the Admin Console's Finder window.

I have multiple ISYs in the same house and find it useful to access multiple ISYs at the same time. This requires running multiple Admin Console sessions as the same Admin Console does not connect to different ISYs at the same time.

Of course if interfacing with only one ISY at a time is satisfactory having multiple entries in the Finder window, as Xathros already indicated works as well.
