MobiLinc Turn On Wrong Devices

Recently, when I upgraded my MobiLinc on my iPhone 5 (os7.1.1), I started noticing that when I selected to turn on/off a device, many time OTHER devices would turn on/off as well. I never saw this occur before. I thought that maybe there was a problem with the MobiLinc program. So, I deleted it from my phone, redownloaded it and readded all my devices (resynced it my ISY994).

Still - same problem.

Then, I verifed my ISY version 4.0.5 (latest non-beta RELEASE). So, I restored my PLM, thinking there was some issue with the PLM itself. No change.

I then went to my iPad which is running an older version of the MobiLinc and noticed that it too had issues, just not as bad. So, the issue might be with the ISY release itself - not sure.

Just so you know, the ISY Administration console works perfectly on my Windows computer. I turn on/off devices and everything works correctly. ONLY with my MobilLinc do I have this issue. Of course, I am getting ready to leave in 5 days for the summer and I can not trust my Light Controller to work properly.

If anyone has any suggestions (that I have not already tried), please let me know.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

There aren't any known issues with MobiLinc and this behavior, but let me give you a few things to think about:

- When you tap a device's ICON in MobiLinc, if that device is a scene controller, it will turn on the scene.

- If you dig into the device and tap the ON or OFF row, only that device will turn ON or OFF.

When you are testing, and you tap a device icon, double-check in the ISY's Admin Console that this device is or is not also in a scene that it's controlling. The expected response is that the scene will turn ON/OFF when tapping the controlling device's icon in MobiLinc.

Hopefully this helps.

I understand the operation of MobiLinc. I have been using it for several years now with no significant issues. This problem just started and I can not find a solution. Unfortunately, I am leaving for the summer and I can no longer trust MobiLinc to operate my house. Now, the windows Admin console operates perfectly at all times.

MobiLinc is turning on devices that are NOT part of the scene of the device I am turning on. Worse, MobiLinc does not update the STATUS of the devices it turned on in error. Only on the Admin console do I see those devices. So, the other night I turn off a device in another part of my house but it turned on my fans in the garage and the floodlights up front. They stayed on all night until I noticed the switch indications the next day.

If there are no issues with MobiLinc, could there be an issue with the PLM or ISY unit itself?

If there is a potential issue with the PLM or ISY, wouldn't that show up in the computer Admin console?

Hi Michael,

My only other suggestion would be to delete MobiLinc and reinstall from the App Store and then resync to your ISY. If you still have the same problem, then I suspect the issue is in the ISY/PLM somewhere. A delete/install of MobiLinc should give you the exactly same results as the Admin Console...keeping in mind what I talked about above regarding the scene information triggered by device controllers.

If you have time to dig into this before you leave it would be helpful to us and the UDI folks if you could report the following:

- What INSTEON device ID do you tap in MobiLinc? And confirm that you are either tapping the icon or going into the details to tap the ON/OFF row.

- What INSTEON ID's turn ON/OFF? and is this repeatable?

- The INSTEON ID that you tapped, what scene(s) is that device in? Which scene has this device ID as the controller?

- Are any of the devices that mistakenly turned on in these scenes?

- What does the ISY's Log report for the time range of your test?

Other questions:

- Does this only happen to one device or all devices?

- If it's specific to a device or a handful of devices and their scenes, try deleting the scenes with MobiLinc open and recreate keeping MobiLinc open the entire time.

Tried the full delete, reinstall, resync. No change - same exact results.

Yes, the results are reproducible. They are all Insteon devices (switches, outlets, etc). The devices it turns on are all random but some more than others.

I will look into the logs of the ISY and report.....
