I have an extensive X-10 system. Two years ago I experimented with a few Insteon devices with no luck.

Last April I discovered ISY. I downloaded the ISY User Guide and read the whole thing. I discovered that the X-10 support was not very robust. I talked with UD and was told that would be fixed in late summer.

I just tried to download a copy of the User Guide but can't find it. I noticed that the copy I downloaded has no reference to current date.

Is there a version of the User Guide more current than last April? If so, how can I download it? If not, will there be an update?

Thanks,

Joe

Joe,

Welcome to the forum.

You are correct that the ISY User Guide is a bit out of date. The fault lies with "WE" the forum members and Users of the system. We've kept the ISY people busy with our constant requests for additions. To our amazement, the ISY team has been fielding these requests and implementing them. Unfortunately, this has come at the cost of documentation updates.

Fortunately, you've come to the correct place for answers. I, and many other forum members, share your X10 background. The ISY support for X10 has improved significantly since the release of the Users Guide.

Have a look at the following categories:

X10 : http://www.forum.universal-devices.com/viewforum.php?f=29

Beta Enhancements: http://forum.universal-devices.com/viewtopic.php?t=930.

UD Wiki: http://www.universal-devices.com/mwiki/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Using_X-10_Motion_Sensors

For specific questions, please let us know what current components you have in your system (modules, controllers, couplers, etc). If a forum member can't help, one of the ISY team probably can (they spend many hours on this forum).

I'm also waiting to begin. Good documentation is a must for beginners. The Forum is great but a good reference manual should be the first line of defense.:!::!:

I believe I'm in the same boat, and I agree that some fundamental documentation would be nice, but another way to learn is through experimentation.

I'm looking for a device to replace my home computer running Homeseer. Homeseer is a SWEET product, but I want to free up my computer. The ISY-99i is the third device that I have purchased hoping to replace the Homeseer solution, and so far I've found it to be extremely flexible. So flexible, in fact, I think it might work for me.

My advice is to buy one and start playing with it. The software/firmware updates seem to be fairly frequent, and they are definitely supporting X10 more and more with each release. Oh, and I've had my ISY-99i now for 2.5 days, and I'm pretty close to having it replicate everything that I'm doing with Homeseer.
