Here is the log for my all on event.  My wife called me at 932AM.  I did not receive notification that the water valve was closed until 934, immediately before the notification that the water valve was opened.

Hi Erick,

I am so very sorry. I was working with dstanley today and the event is very similar to yours.

Do you have an INSTEON motion sensor anywhere in your system and if so where and how does it get triggered?

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

I have two recently installed motion sensors. The second was placed in the pantry about 2 weeks ago. In about the 11th line in the log there is a MS entry at 9:29:54, but this is a couple minutes before everything turned on., starting 9:32:16. Still not sure exactly which Kpl button she pressed, but the all on immediately followed the button press.

Thank you for looking at this.

I experienced an all on event this morning.  2 garage doors opened and most of the lights in the house came on.

About 10 minutes ago one of the garage doors opened.  Most of the lights were already on because it is dusk.

PLM version 9B according to Info/Status.

I'll read through this thread when I get a moment later this evening. If I get more info I will post it then.

Hi Erick,

Thanks so very much. Is it are to say that your all on events started happening after the installation of the motion sensors? Also can you tell me whether or the motion sensor is part of any scenes?

The reason I think it's motion sensor related is because invariably all the events I have investigated are preceeded by an RF device followed by a KPL button through ISY programs.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

I have only had the one all on event, but I do not think it was triggered by a motion sensor. The motions sensors are both part of scenes with a single responder, laundry lights and pantry lights. I do not see anything in the log to indicate that the MS did anything at the time of the all on.

Thanks

Eric

The responder of the Pantry MS is a switchlinc relay. The responder for the laundry MS is a 6 button KPL. It may be single band, will have to check. The pantry ms is the one that triggered shortly before the all on. I do not see anything in the log for the laundry MS.

Thank you

Eric

Yes, the laundry lights are controlled by the motion sensor with a scene, on only. I then have a simple timer program to turn the lights off after 10 or 15 minutes. I would have to check the program to get the exact time. I have the same set up for the pantry MS.

Hi Eric,

Thanks. I am sorry but I am getting confused. The main question is whether or not you have any Morin sensor that are controllers in a scene with keypad buttons AND the same sensor is used as a condition in a program that controls other buttons on the same keypad.

Michel,

Not.

I have a MS that is a controller in a scene including the load of a 6 button Kpl (on). That MS is used as a condition in a program that controls just the same load (off) but not any other buttons on the same keypad.

Hi Eric,

Ok. So the same motion sensor is not only a controller for a KPL in a scene but also used in a program to control the SAME KPL (regardless of the button). Correct?

If so either use it as a controller or a program condition and not both.

With kind regards,

Michel

Michel,

Correct. The behavior I want is for the light to turn on when motion is detected and then to turn off after 10 minutes. I believe the only way to do this well is to use a scene for the on and program for the off. I found when I tried to use a program for my hidden door sensor to turn on a light there was a delay. There are plenty of threads on this topic. If there is a delay we will have a low WAF.

How do you know the MS-keypad controller/condition combination is the cause of this. The keypad is in the laundry room and none of the secondary buttons are in use so I can swap the keypad for a switchlinc. Easy to do to prevent another all on. We are going to gut the laundry room in a few months so I was planning ahead with the Kpl.

I have some extra lamplincs courtesy of the holiday sale. I may add one to the isy and create a scene with no other controllers. Maybe a program that if the status is on then turn off all the lights.

Thank you,

Eric

Michel,

This wasn't the first time this occurred.  I ignored the earlier instance(s) by blaming them on my bad programming.  This time my wife happened to be walking down our main staircase when the house lit up and the garage doors opened.  I might be able to write off randomly opening doors but I can't ignore the wife.

There are no scenes, programs, etc, in my system that connects all of these events so we definitely have an issue.  As always I know your support will be first rate.  I'll send the log shortly.

Thanks

Hi Eric,

Yiu cannot do what you are currently doing. If the motion sensor is a controller in a scene it sends an on when motion is sensed and off after the timeout. Please use either a program or a scene.

Hi No Pressure,

Was a motion sensor tripped when your wife was going down the stairs?

Michel,

The way I have this set up works fine. I'm using the on only option, so the light does not turn off after the time out. This has to mean that an off is not sent.

What is the evidence that the MS has anything to do with the all on?

Eric

I'll have to read the entire thread again, but I have been following it over the last few months. I thought a lot of the all ons had to do with garage doors. In the mean time, no repeats events for me.

EricK-

In many cases a garage door is involved in the all on but rarely is the cause.  The garage door opening is the result of the All On event triggering the IOLinc's relay in the same way these events turn on all of the lights.

Ugh. Just experienced another all on event, see the last few posts in this aged thread. This likely occurred after my wife went into the pantry to get the dog a treat after letting him out. Pantry light switchlinc would have turned on by the motion sensor (on only) by a scene. I then have a program to turn off the pantry lights after 7 minutes. No kpl is involved.

So should I eliminate the program for the motion sensor. I can then probably just use the motion sensor time out to turn off the lights. I would honestly just place a non-insteon motion sensor switch in the pantry, but the pantry door is always open and anytime someone walked by the lights would come on.

My other MS is out of service since we are doing some renovations in the laundry room, so that one was not the culprit.
