starhome
I'm trying to configure a Wake on LAN device, i enter MAC Address (with dashes, all upper-case), IP Address (in my case 10.10.1.115), Subnet (255.255.255.0) and Press Calculate and click "OK". When I open the settings again, the IP Address is always "10.10.1.126"... i'm i doing something wrong? I'm running 4.2.2 Link to comment
stusviews
That's correct. You are not doing anything wrong. The IP address, 10.10.1.126, is the public address for any and all devices connected to your LAN. The IP address, 10.10.1.115 is the address assigned to your device on your LAN and is subject to change. But changing it won't affect wake-on-LAN ability. The particular device you want to wake is identified by the MAC number. Link to comment
apostolakisl
I don't know much about the wake on lan. But I can tell you that 10.10.anything.anything is not a public IP adress. Both addresses you list there are private LAN addresses. Link to comment
Michel Kohanim
Hi apostolakisl, I think Stu meant "broadcast" address which is 100% correct. With kind regards, Michel Link to comment
