LeeG Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 The Group=4 indicates the Heartbeat message. The combination of Max Hops=3, Hops Left=2 is the indicator of comm quality. Hops Left=2 is as good as it gets. dba62 Posted November 30, 2014 Author Posted November 30, 2014 So would the INSTEON 2992-222 Range Extender be a good investment?
Teken Posted November 30, 2014 Posted November 30, 2014 So would the INSTEON 2992-222 Range Extender be a good investment? Yes . . . And after you confirm proper coupling via the 4 tap beacon test outlined by the full users manual.
dba62 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Yes . . . And after you confirm proper coupling via the 4 tap beacon test outlined by the full users manual. I will do that this weekend after I install the range extender. Meanwhile as of this morning I have missed heartbeats from both of the remote sensors. I'll see what's going on tonight.....
Teken Posted December 1, 2014 Posted December 1, 2014 (edited) I will do that this weekend after I install the range extender. Meanwhile as of this morning I have missed heartbeats from both of the remote sensors. I'll see what's going on tonight..... I believe this high lights the beauty of the leak sensor program from the other member. Without it, this sort of thing would be very hard to track long term. I had the same thing happen to me last year when I deployed four of them. The RF simply could not get past from under the sink. I moved a spare AP unit and everything has been perfect ever since. dba62 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 Interestingly enough according to MobiLinc everything is AOK. Is it possible that my program is somehow not connected with the correct sensors given the deletes and adds that I performed? Or is the MobiLinc status incorrect?
dba62 Posted December 1, 2014 Author Posted December 1, 2014 dba62 You will miss Heartbeat messages as well as Wet condition messages until comm (Max Hops=3, Hops Left=varying to 0) with the remote location is improved. That makes sense and I plan to address this. Interestingly enough I did run for 3 months with no issues, but perhaps I installed something that impacts the RF performance.
dba62 Posted December 2, 2014 Author Posted December 2, 2014 Interestingly enough according to MobiLinc everything is AOK. Is it possible that my program is somehow not connected with the correct sensors given the deletes and adds that I performed? Or is the MobiLinc status incorrect? MobiLinc was correct. The problem was with the program. This must have been an artifact of me removing the sensor and then re-adding it without modifying the sensor monitored by the program (I'm guessing that it was basically an invalid reference at this time). When I updated the sensor (basically selecting the sensor with the same name) in the variable control programs it resolved the problem.
