alexmanning Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Hi, Would appreciate some advise as I'm stumped as to what has gone wrong with this! My email notification was working fine until the last few days when I started getting the error "TLS notification failed" My mail server is smtp.mail.me.com, which must have been found as if I turn 'Use TLS' off then I get the error "unsupported authentication message". I've checked my router and port 587 is being forwarded (as advised by apple) http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4864 I don't know what else to try.. Cheers, Alex
Techman Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 It's possible something may have changed on the mail.me.com server. Try sending an email using the default server. If that works then I would give your email provider a call to see if they made any changes on their end. The ISY is currently not supporting SSL 3.0 which also might be factor.
Michel Kohanim Posted November 3, 2014 Posted November 3, 2014 Hi alexmanning, I suspect they disabled SSL due to the POODLE vulnerability. If you have an ISY994, then please upgrade to 4.2.18 and retry: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/14420-release-4218-rc8-is-now-avaialble/ If you have a 99, I am afraid you will need to upgrade to a 994. With kind regards, Michel
Mike Ippolito Posted November 5, 2014 Posted November 5, 2014 Alex, Did you create a new app specific password for your .me account when apple changed the authentication mechanism on accounts? http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT6186
alexmanning Posted November 5, 2014 Author Posted November 5, 2014 I've upgraded the firmware and all is working now. Thanks for the help.
