MasterMog Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I have configured the ISY-99 to synch up with a NTP Server every 4 hours but unfortunately in between that time it keeps resetting itself to an hour behind the real time. If I synchronize using the computer time or manually set the time eventually the same thing happens. I'm not sure if the problem is in the ISY-99 or if what is displayed on the admin console is wrong. I update the time manually by pressing the synch now button and it stays correct for a short time. Any ideas what could cause the clock to keep restting itself? Thanks Mack

The only way I can get my ISY to go off 1 hour is to either turn off DST or change my location to a city outside of my time zone. You might want to turn off DST and change your city, exit, then go back in and enable DST and choose the correct city.

I have been monitoring the time for the past three days and it is still correct. In the past it would not go 24 hrs without being set back an hour. Thanks for your help, very much appreciated. I did some testing, using: windows.time.com pool.ntp.org north-america.pool.ntp.org (as recommended on their website) time.nist.gov . None would connect. I finally pinged north-america.pool.ntp.org and it resolved to 198.247.173.220. So, I put that in directly and clicked "Synchronize Now" in the ISY Configuration Tab; and, it sync'd immediately. Now I'm wondering why the ISY is not resolving domain names. I'm checking on that. - Rob

In some cases - and especially if you have static IP address assigned to your ISY - your router may refuse relaying DNS requests. Please look for a DNS Relay settings in your router. aLf Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 I to have never had reliable (within 2 minutes) of the correct time. I have a Siemens router that is set to "Client Update" and it still is almost always a couple minutes off (Siemens Router is right on. Not a big deal, but aLf's neighbors expect anal in everything I do, therefore they set their clocks to my lights going on at sunset. If I think of it, and tonight this forum made me check. I re-set ISY to my watch, which gets set on the hour every morning with WGN. Maybe there is something still missing here, but I'd say mine doesn't respond as you say Michel. Again, certainly no biggy...
Stowaway Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 I have not had a problem since the NTP sync was built in! Using the default pool.ntp.org my isy is always within a second or so of my PCs using the windows NTP server
