cmotaval Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I am running in to problems with thefirst alert zcombo smoke alarm. I can get it to pair with the isy and i see 7 modules show up, I cant seem to do anything with them. Has anyone added this smoke alarm to their system?
Xathros Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 Multi channel ZWave support is coming in the next series of ISY firmwares due out soon. -Xathros
cmotaval Posted May 22, 2015 Author Posted May 22, 2015 I have it working well now.....Just exclude it then include it...dont know why it has to be excluded first but it worked after that
PThomas Posted October 9, 2015 Posted October 9, 2015 I am having trouble getting the First Alert ZCOMBO to work. I can successfully include the device and 7 nodes show up: Smoke Alarm, Malfunction Alarm, Test Alarm, Low Battery, Heartbeat, CO Alarm, and CO End of Life Alarm. However, when I attempt to use one of the nodes as a condition in a program, the only status available is "Responding". In addition to "Responding", the Smoke Alarm node also has the battery levels. None of the node have an "On" or "Off" status that can be used as a program trigger. I excluded and then re-included and get the same. I excluded, cleared the ZCOMBO, and then re-included and still the same. cmotaval says his is working now, but are you able to trigger a program with it? Are we still waiting for Multi Channel ZWave support in order to trigger a program from a ZCOMBO alarm?
benbennett Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 Try including then running the alarm test or waiting a bit and or exiting the java app. I remember for some reason the program states didn't show up right away. I have both the first alert zcombo and the lowes branded one, working without issue. I have programs for each of the smoke and co alarm nodes keying off a On state that sends a text and email. Went as far to test the smoke alarm by lighting a small piece of paper in a pan.
cmotaval Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 I also have the smoke alarm sending an email and text when it goes off. In the program details it reads If status / sensors / basement zwavecombo is on then...... for my other alarms it reads if control / sensors / main floor zwavecombo is switched on then........
paulbates Posted October 11, 2015 Posted October 11, 2015 I'll add something to check on the zwave version. The insteon version of this device, the insteon smoke bridge, only provides the low battery message for the unit its linked to. So if you have 3 linked units.... A,B & C, and you link the bridge to A, you only get a low battery warning for A, but not B&C. I would be curious how the zwave version works for battery alerts.
cmotaval Posted October 11, 2015 Author Posted October 11, 2015 Each zwave smoke alarm shows up as its own device with subdevices, ie battery/co alarm. So if any of the alarms have a low battery the isy will notify me, same way as if any alarm goes off.
paulbates Posted October 12, 2015 Posted October 12, 2015 Gottcha. Its zwave from the smokes right to the isy zwave radio. The Insteon smoke bridge mimics itself as another retail First Alert OneLink detector, and there are some limitations with that design. Paul
PThomas Posted October 28, 2015 Posted October 28, 2015 I was able to get the First Alert ZCOMBO to work by following the suggestions. I excluded, then re-included the device. I then hit the test button, followed by triggering the actual smoke alarm using some test smoke. Now the On and Off Statuses show in the programming for the test and smoke alarm nodes. They do not show for any of the other nodes, such as CO Alarm. I'm guessing I need to somehow trigger these also, but as that is problematic, I am satisfied with the test and smoke alarm statuses working correctly. I am able to trigger a text message to my phone on a test or smoke alarm. Thanks for all the help!
