Todd C Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Hello, I purchased the Z-wave module for my ISY-994i and is on version 4.55. I purchased a Schlage Connect Lock (BE469NXCAM619). I put the lock in connect mode and successfully added to the ISY tree. It is listed as ZW 002 Uninitialized Device. I have been searching for instructions for how to manage the lock but I can't seem to find anything. I have no idea what to do in order to manage the lock - can you please provide some instructions or point me in the right direction. Thank You. Todd
Xathros Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Hi Todd- Doesn't sound like it added properly to me. Select Exclude and run through the exclude process at the lock, then re-include. It should show up as a lock. -Xathros
Todd C Posted January 20, 2015 Author Posted January 20, 2015 THANK YOU - your advice solved the problem immediately. When I registered the lock again it immediately appeared as a lock in the ISY and I can now manage it. Thanks again, Todd
416to305 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Can we make a huge banner on the top of the Z-Wave forum that says "HAVE YOU EXCLUDED YOUR DEVICE FIRST?" Haha, seems like 1-2 questions a day that are solved by excluding. Actually maybe I'll suggest that on the ISY suggestion page, not a banner ad but to have the ISY remind people when adding a Z-Wave device that they may need to exclude it first.
Michel Kohanim Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Hi 416to305, I like the idea very much. Actually I must be reminded myself! With kind regards, Michel
Scyto Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I can't say I have been having much luck adding my locks. The kwikset added really easily the first time. The second time (I after ruined the z-wave network upgrading was harder) For the two schlage locks (BE469 and FE599) doing exclude from the ISY did not work. I had to dig out my z-wave USB stick, put that in exclude before the locks would exclude. I am still unable to include the locks. I upgraded to 4.2.23 from 4.2.18 - that didn't change anything. 1) do the zwave lock device enrollment message pass through the mesh or does the ISY need to have 'line of sight' to the lock to pass the keys? 2) is there anything else about the locks I should check (they worked fine with the revolv I decommissioned) ---edit--- well I managed to get one of the schlage locks, I remembered that the kwikset added easily after I rebooted the ISY so I went rebooted the ISY and then the schlage FE599 added straight away no issues still haven't got the second working, will trouble shoot that tomorrow. Alex
Xathros Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Out of all of my Schlage locks, the 469 seemed to be the hardest to enroll. The FE599's went quite easily. I do believe they need direct comms to the ISY to add or at least a route through a "Beaming Capable" repeater. One thing that worked for me was adding the lock with the door open as that changed the orientation of the lock to the ISY for the add. after it added, it has worked flawlessly. Hope this helps. -Xathros
Scyto Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Thanks I did have the door open, will try moving it even more open I will also try changing the z-wave external antenna orientation and maybe even switch back to the internal. I moved some devices closer that the z-wave diags see as being repeaters - I couldn't tell if they were beaming capable - for example this is less than 4 feet from the lock (note the kwikset 'front lever lock' is directly above the schlage I am trying to enroll) so I am assuming I have a good mesh? Michel Kohanim Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hi Scyto, Have you done a network heal? How do you reboot isy? WHT kind regards, Michel
Scyto Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Yes multiple times - I also wasn't sure what the other repair options did... Reboot is done by pulling the power. However after last pull I still couldn't add the last lock so not sure if that's a red-herring or not, I pulled the powere the first time because z-wave got funky - I would try and add / exclude / cancel add but the little pop-up UI would not pop-up and the log never showed the start / stop of include / exclude. Is it possible to see the neighbors of node 1 (the ISY) that way I could gauge my signal map of what the ISY can and can't see directly?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hi Scyto, Thanks so very much for the details. I suspect powering on/off has no impact. But this makes me think that your presence next to ISY is the contributing factor. Can you tell me whether or not your ISY is horizontal or vertical and how far from the floor. Yes you can get neighbors and node information by right mouse click on the device | Z-Wave | Node info. With kind regards, Michel
Scyto Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hi Michael not sure if you are serious about my presence. I reboot ISY in basement then return to ground floor before I do anything, Box is mounted vertically on wall, connectors towards floor, the attena stick out at about 120 degrees from vertical (points slightly downwards. I am tring to get node 1 z aves neighbors. When I right click on ISY there is no zwave menu to get the info of the ISYs neighbours?
Jimbo.Automates Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hi Michael not sure if you are serious about my presence. I may be completely wrong, but from what I understand, the antenna should be pointed straight vertical. Although I have had better results using the internal antenna for my environment. The Z-Wave neighbors can be seen in the event viewer when you right click on the device and select "Z-Wave" -> "Show information in event viewer" -> "Network Details". If you don't have that option then you are not on a recent UI. I'm using the latest 4.2.23 firmware and UI.
Scyto Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 yes I know one can see the details when I click on something like a zwave switch. I am asking for the capability to right click on the ISY and get its neighbors - that doesn't seem to exist (or I can't find it).
Jimbo.Automates Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Open event viewer and use this link in a browser http://isy.ip/rest/zwave/node/show/network using your ISY ip.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 Hi Scyto, Yes, I was!!! One thing to note with the antenna is that it makes everything extremely directional. So, as Jimbo suggested, please have it point upwards. Also, you might want to try everything without the antenna as it reduces the signal by about 5dbs. With kind regards, Michel
Scyto Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I will try, it points downwards at the moment mainly as a function of the wall screw holes on the back of the case box. Might I suggest in future versions of the case you flip the orientation of the screw mount holes (large part of hole towards the front rather than the rear as it does today).
Scyto Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 No luck, removing the attena / switching to internal both result in almost no zwave comms (a heal network failed on every thing) putting the attena back on fixed that Given I cna communicate with every other zwave device in the house should I just relocate the ISY while I include the lock. Or should I get a proper repeater or big / better / different antenna?
Jimbo.Automates Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Did you reboot the ISY after selecting the option to use internal a antenna? If so, then it seems like you need a good repeater like the Aeon.
Scyto Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Did you reboot the ISY after selecting the option to use internal a antenna? If so, then it seems like you need a good repeater like the Aeon. No I did not reboot. Is there a right way to do that besides pulling the power?
Jimbo.Automates Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 I am pretty sure you have to reboot for the antenna change to take affect. You can reboot from the Admin Console configuration/system tab. I think unplugging is ok, but I feel better asking it to reboot. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
Michel Kohanim Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Hi Scyto, Jimbo is correct. With kind regards, Michel
Scyto Posted February 8, 2015 Posted February 8, 2015 Haha, in all my time with the ISY I never noticed the reboot button, took me 30 seconds of scanning and re-scanning the page to find it. Guess I had a blind spot on that one. Changing to internal antenna made o difference to including the back door lock and broke comms with one of the front door locks (but not the other). I have an aeon repeater on order to see if that can fix it. BTW Michael rebooting from within the UI worked perfectly; so the times my reboot failed seem to be restricted to the time I did the SSL cert and the time I did the firmware upgrade. I will keep an eye on it, if I get an automatic reboot failure I will log a ticket next time.
Jimbo.Automates Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Haha, no worries. Only other suggestion would be a heal network after switching antennas, but if you don't have any devices that retransmit to each other than it shouldn't make a difference? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
