Scyto Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 Yup did heal. I have a bunch of devices that say repeater when I query the device capabilities and that are close to the lock (within 6 feet of the lock)
Michel Kohanim Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 Hi Scyto, Thanks so very much for the update. What's the battery level on that door lock? Also, are there other Z-Wave devices in the same vicinity and, if so, do they work properly? With kind regards, Michel
Jimbo.Automates Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Also, the repeaters that are trying to communicate with the lock have to be "beaming capable" which not all do.
MWareman Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 What's not clear to me (yet), ISY knows which devices are repeaters, but does not indicate if it knows a repeater is beaming capable. My concern is it looks like ISY calculates routes being ignorant of this, so I have some routes to my locks going thru repeaters that cannot beam. I suspect this may be something to do with unreliable lock operation in my installation. I've not been able to confirm this yet though.
Jimbo.Automates Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I completely agree! It is confusing, but from my limited research it seems to be related to what Z-Wave firmware is included in the device? Hopefully UDI can provide more info.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Hi guys, ISY's routing algorithm/healing is pretty much the algorithm provided by Sigma. With kind regards, Michel
MWareman Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Michel, I guess the fundamental question I have is: During route calculation does ISY consider as a route candidate for reaching a lock (or, frankly any battery powered device) repeater capable devices that ISY does not know supports beaming? Bonus question: Is there any way beaming capability of a device can be exposed thru the API network enumeration? The issue I seem to have is that I believe I have some repeater devices that I know don't support beaming that still list my lock as a neighbor. I would think the Sigma algorithm wouldn't allow this. Could this lead to poor or sporadic lock (and other battery device) communication? Michael.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Hi Michael, I am so very sorry but I really cannot answer those questions: ISY does NOT directly calculate any routes. There's a Z-Wave function we use which does that. With kind regards, Michel

Scyto Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Hi Scyto, Thanks so very much for the update. What's the battery level on that door lock? Also, are there other Z-Wave devices in the same vicinity and, if so, do they work properly? With kind regards, Michel Hi Michael I put fresh batteries in so 100%. The repeater from Aeotec made no difference. I believe I have multiple devices in the same area, for example the switch is within 4 feet, node 13 is within 8 feet and node 15 within 20 feet. all my z-wave devices seem to work. I have not tried taking the ISY from the basement to the locks location. The lock appears to include and exclude from an aeotec stick just fine. The lock worked on my revolv perfectly. Jimbo.Automates Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 Open the event viewer and it will show the routes there
Michel Kohanim Posted February 15, 2015 Posted February 15, 2015 Hi Scyto, Thank you. In addition to what Jimbo suggests, please right mouse click on your repeaters | Z-Wave | Show Info ... make sure ISY is a neighbor to it or to other repeaters associated with it. With kind regards, Michel
Scyto Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Hi Michael Yes the repeater is a neighbor of the ISY (thanks jimbo on the network routes, I had been wondering and asking how I saw info for Node 1). Odd to me that nodes 2 and 9 don't see the ISY (these are on ground floor in same location as the front door deadbolt). Node 4 which does see the ISY is on the first floor almost directly above 2 and 9. Question I notice some of these report as repeaters and don't support associations (jasco switches) - does that mater? the routes info: Sun 02/15/2015 18:30:37 : [ZW-SHOW ] ----------------------------------------------Sun 02/15/2015 18:30:37 : [ZW-SHOW ] Node 1 - MWareman Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 I believe that the Jasco switches don't send status when they are changed locally - because (I think) they do not have the ability to support associations (something to do with a Lutron patent I seem to recall...)
Scyto Posted February 16, 2015 Posted February 16, 2015 Got it, does that matter for the z-wave lock issue I am having?
Michel Kohanim Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Hi Sycto, MWareman is correct and it should not matter. Is the Lever Lock that's the issue? I do see node 2 is neighbor of node 4 which is neighbor of ISY. And node 15 is the neighbor of both + the Lever Lock. So, with which one do you have communication problems? With kind regards, Michel

The ISY has not seen it on either include or exclude operations. An aeon labs stick happily excludes / includes the lock. The BE469 is very close to the following nodes in this order of physical proximity - 3, 12, 11, 15 The BE469 has new and fresh batteries. The BE469 worked fine with a previous z-wave controller. Yes I know to exclude it before doing the include.
Michel Kohanim Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks Scyto, Do you see any type of traffic whatsoever in the event viewer? Or is it just completely deaf? The fact that it's close to 15 is very strange because 15 is a direct neighbor of ISY. With kind regards, Michel
Xathros Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Try an ISY reboot then exclude/include -Xathros Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Scyto Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 @ Michael completely deaf. @ Xathros tried multiple reboots and exclude / include cycles I am in middle of powering my whole house down and up to troubleshoot an insteon comms issue, I will see after that if powercyling all the z-wave devices made a difference...
Michel Kohanim Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Thanks Scyto, Looking forward to your feedback and whatever you find out. With kind regards, Michel
stusviews Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Scyto, The usual procedure is to power up the PLM first, wait a short time and then power up the PLM.

I am unclear what the PLM has to do with z-wave? Also at this point of time my ISY994i is up and sending commands as usual. It is the other circuits in the house I am powering off (not the PLM / ISY circuit)
