sfhutchi Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Just updated to 2.5... -Initial Impressions: Glad you changed the pink to a darker color on the 'My Lighting' list. It is much easier to read now. After upgrading, and the application on my pc closing... I likely didn't wait long enough before invoking the application again. (the device is out of sight in a closet so I didn't knows its status) The console opened but wouldn't accept my login id... In the background, the system appeared to be querying devices and failing. I closed it and started again with no problems. On initial start, ISY prompted me that it couldn't communicate to a few lights that I had no problem communicating to just before the upgrade. After start-up, I quered everything and everything seems okay. Persistant Query windows: While querying the system, it forces the query window to the foreground making it difficult to do other tasks like responding to this forum. I thought that this was fixed in the last release? Programs: This looks like it was worth the wait! I'll be playing more with this over the coming days. Thanks UDI!
GPG Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Wow! This looks really great. Nice Job! I was able to replace my 7 sprinkler schedules with one program, thanks to the WAIT function. I First tested it out with 1 minute delays and now set it up with my normal 30 minute delays. It is running a full test now. It took me a while to get used to the program interface, but once you get the hang of the "remove line" and "move up/down", editing a long program is not that difficult. Question: there is a 'My Old Schedule' to " 'Set My Lighting' to null". Should that one be left as is, or can it be deleted, or moved to the regular program section? I received two error messages while attempting to make a backup: 1- Couldn't retrieve the configuration file /CONF/846D8.BUT 2- Couldn't create the configuration zip file /bad file I replied OK to both messages to continue. That's it for now. So far it is looking really good. Thanks, George.
Chris Jahn Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Thanks George! A lot of effort went into this and I'm glad to see the initial response is positive. You can delete, move, rename, or edit any of the programs in "My Old Schedules" or "My Old Triggers"; they are just like regular programs. You can even delete the folders if you'd like. Did you get the backup errors when backing up with new code on the box, or was this when you did backup prior to upgrading the box? Wow! This looks really great. Nice Job! Sub-Routine Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Wow! This looks really great. Nice Job! I agree the new features look great! ... Question: there is a 'My Old Schedule' to " 'Set My Lighting' to null". Should that one be left as is, or can it be deleted, or moved to the regular program section? ... Thanks, George. I see this as well. This used to be the Query My Lights at 3 AM. I cannot find My Lights in the list. No backup errors here. Rand
GPG Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 I did not receive any errors when I made the backup prior to upgrading to 2.5. I make backups often before making changes and this is the first time I have received an error of any kind. Any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks, George
jbev Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Just finished upgrading as well and I must say that I am very impressed. During the install it hung at 99% and I thought all was lost so I closed the window and logged back in only to discover a whole new world waiting there for me... very impressive indeed. The scheduling was so much easier to work with... although it is all a much "slicker" interface in my tiny opinion. Two thumbs up to the development guys over there.
wjoel Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Install went ok. Except it converted all my scheduled events to turn off. Minor inconvenience. I also had to rename all my schedules.
Mark Sanctuary Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 So I logged in today to see what was new and low and behold there was 2.5 waiting for me to upgrade to. I did my backup, downloaded the file, and did the install all very easily. Then I tried to login to my ISY...I could but it would ask for user/password over and over again. Finally I hit cancel on the password box several times and it quit. I could look over my setup and there were 5 duplicates of everything; devices and scene entries. I tried a cold rebooting the ISY and still had the same thing. Then I sat back and thought for a moment, and decided to try logging in another route. I was using the icon in "My Network Places" so instead I used the website link and I was able to get logged in that way just fine.
Mark Sanctuary Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Well looks like I am not able to see the new gui. All I get is the old gui with the url login and with the my network places login I get the stuttering. So I fould a bug.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Mark, Have you upgraded to release 2.4.8 (= 2.5 Beta) yet? With kind regards, Michel Well looks like I am not able to see the new gui. All I get is the old gui with the url login and with the my network places login I get the stuttering. So I fould a bug.
Mark Sanctuary Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I downloaded the zip file and did the manual install just as you said. Should I back it out and try again?
Mark Sanctuary Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Well it was locked up this morning so I did a cold start again and now it is getting to the new gui. I am going to play with the new stuff and see if its now working.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Mark, Excellent. Please do let us know if you run into this issue again. Thanks and with kind regards, Michel Well it was locked up this morning so I did a cold start again and now it is getting to the new gui. I am going to play with the new stuff and see if its now working.
Chris Jahn Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Thanks Rand! You are right, 'My Lighting' should be there but isn't. This caused the 'null' in that schedule. I'll put that on the fix list. Wow! This looks really great. Nice Job! I agree the new features look great! ... Question: there is a 'My Old Schedule' to " 'Set My Lighting' to null". Chris Jahn Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hi George, I'm not sure what would have caused this; could you send me the backup you made prior to upgrading to the new version so I can try to recreate the problem here. I did not receive any errors when I made the backup prior to upgrading to 2.5. I make backups often before making changes and this is the first time I have received an error of any kind. Any suggestions on what to do next? Thanks, George
GPG Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Chris, I sent a copy to tech@universal-devices.com. Everything else seems to be working fine, I just can not make a backup. could you send me the backup you made prior to upgrading to the new version so I can try to recreate the problem here.
Mark Sanctuary Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 It looks like the "My Lighting" is not on the list of actions. This may be why the null, because "My Lighting" is not even in the combo box list. Another note the combo box width is not wide enought for longer names maybe it could be widened up a bit.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Mark, Thank you so very much for the feedback. This is a know GUI bug which is already fixed and will be included in the next release of Beta (by the end of the week). As far as your original (migrated) schedules which run against My Lighting, please do not do anything with them; they will continue to run. With kind regards, Michel It looks like the "My Lighting" is not on the list of actions. This may be why the null, because "My Lighting" is not even in the combo box list. sfhutchi Posted September 25, 2007 Author Posted September 25, 2007 Install went ok. Except it converted all my scheduled events to turn off. Minor inconvenience. I also had to rename all my schedules. Based on what I saw, this is only if it was an 'on' command. Set to a specific value stayed the same.
