andyf0 Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I've been playing with the Aeotec Smart Switch 6. Aeon Labs was kind enough to send me their technical documentation (attached). One thing I've noticed with this device is that the ON & OFF commands are always sent twice. Yes, I know the Current Current is a bit iffy sometimes but I'm only reporting on the ON / OFF event (can't turn it off!) so the current varies during that time and I'm not updating on regular intervals. This happens in 4.3.3 and 5.0.0. Can UDI take a look at this, I already have a lot of traffic going on in my home, duplicating commands seems redundant. Chris Jahn Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Hi Andyf0, Not sure why this is happening, we'll have to get one of those devices and test it out here.
andyf0 Posted June 14, 2015 Author Posted June 14, 2015 Thanks Chris, would appreciate that. This is a brand new device from Aeotec but I really like it and Aeon Labs support actually responds to my Emails. Shock! Next up will their MultiSensor device which will be available in about 3 weeks.
kohai Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Any update on this? I'm brand new. Just bought my ISY994i zw and the first sensor I bought for testing is Aeotec Smart Switch 6. This is my very first program. So, if the bug means I can't turn it off that may explain why I'm stuck.
Michel Kohanim Posted December 6, 2015 Posted December 6, 2015 Hi kohai, This should be supported in our next 5.0x code drop. I am so very sorry for the delay. With kind regards, Michel

Scyto Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 Great to know, i wondered why it wouldn't turn on or off

Michel Kohanim Posted January 24, 2016 Posted January 24, 2016 Hi lay_low_1966, This specific switch requires multi-channel support to be out quite shortly. With kind regards, Michel
captfisk Posted April 17, 2016 Posted April 17, 2016 I just added the Smart Switch 6, Gen 5 (model: ZW096) to my newly installed Z-Wave module. This is my first Z-Wave device and it's not working as expected, I checked Aeon Labs before purchasing and it's listed as compatible with ISY. Nothing happens when the ON/OFF is clicked, the lamp will light when the "action button" on the device is pressed and the Energy Meter will start to register usage "whoopie" So what do you suggest? Here is the latest from the event viewer. kohai Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 captfisk, which isy firmware are you running? 5.0.3 alpha or greater is required for multi-channel devices (5.0.4 is the current alpha version).
captfisk Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I was not aware of a 5.0.3 or 5.0.4 FW update, thank you for letting me know. Here is my current config. Firmware Insteon UD994 v.4.4.6 UI UD994 v.4.4.6 Z-Wave (21010) Portal Integration (21075) Thank you,
MWareman Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Be careful, 5.anything is currently alpha and incomplete. It's not recommended for production systems (yet!). Please read the thread on its issues and limitations and be sure to take a good backup before trying it!
captfisk Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I was just reading the thread as your notification came in and it scares the heck out of me, so I think I'll just wait on Z-Wave devices until these bugs are fixed. What I'm really interested in is a compatible Z-Wave Garage Door controller, Front door lock and some motion detectors that would work with 4.4.6. I would appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. Now that I'm semi-retired I have time on my hands I just don't know how much time or tyme. Thank you for your quick response.
MWareman Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 I have not used any zwave garage door openers (my GDO is connected to my Elk system), but I have had good success with Kwikset locks. However, if they are the first devices being added be sure to get some other powered devices to build a good zwave mesh. I use 2 Aeotec 'siren' devices since they seem to relay the secure signal necessary for locks to work well. All worked well on 4.4.6.
captfisk Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 Thank you so much for your help I'll do some research on these items.
mwester Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 The Linear Z-Wave Garage Door Opener works fine, and doesn't even need the new 5.x features to work. Just note that it is a secure device (like any other door lock device), and as such it has special needs when it comes to linking it to the ISY (proximity - can't do a secure join relaying over a repeater). I also have a bunch of the Aeon multisensors (older round v5 units) that work great as motion detectors, and also don't need the new ISY 5.x features.
rafarataneneces Posted September 2, 2016 Posted September 2, 2016 Mwareman if you add a secure device to Z-Wave, will that relay the signal to secure and non secure devices? I have two devices which were added as non-secure. So I am confused if I would need to buy a third device so I can add it as secure so that one will specifically extend the signal to secure devices
