zerop Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 At night I have my thermostat cooling turn to 82 degrees and heating to 65 degrees (essentially, off) in one area of the house (I have two zones). In the morning it turns the cooling to 76 degrees and heating to 72 degrees. All of this is done using programs. It had been working flawlessly for a while but recently every few days, in the morning after it changes both the cooling and heating to 76 and 72 respectively, a few minutes later (usually about 3 minutes later) the cooling changes back to 82 degrees. The heating stays the same. There is only one program that changes the cooling to 82 degrees and in that same program it changes the heating to 65 so I know the program isn’t being triggered somehow as the heating value doesn’t change. What would cause the cooling set point to change randomly and why always back to 82 degrees? I haven’t added anything new in the house that would cause communication problems. I’m using an Insteon thermostat 2441TH.
Michel Kohanim Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Hi zerop, It seems that the program is working for the morning. Is it possible that your thermostat has schedules? With kind regards, Michel
zerop Posted July 30, 2015 Author Posted July 30, 2015 (edited) Is it possible that your thermostat has schedules? Nope. Factory reset it initially and haven't touched it since. Also, this problem occurs on different days and at different times and has never been on the same day or time. Edit to add: Sometimes I set the temps to 82 and 65 (essentially off) at other times during the day too, such as when the back door is left open (using door sensor). When the door is closed again it runs the program to set the temps back to where they were originally, 76 and 72. Sometimes I have this problem of the cooling reverting back to 82 then as well. fryfrog Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Want to paste a program here for us to have a look at? Here is an example of what mine looks like, I like to use the time range so that if the ISY comes back from a reboot or something it'll trigger. I also think it makes it a little easier to see the time ranges. 0 Morning - [ID 0053][Parent 0073] If From 6:00:00AM To 10:59:59AM (same day) Then Set 'Inside / Upstairs / Thermostat' 70° F (Heat Setpoint) Set 'Inside / Upstairs / Thermostat' 73° F (Cool Setpoint) Set 'Inside / Downstairs / Thermostat' 70° F (Heat Setpoint) Set 'Inside / Downstairs / Thermostat' 73° F (Cool Setpoint) Else - No Actions - (To add one, press 'Action')
zerop Posted August 3, 2015 Author Posted August 3, 2015 Want to paste a program here for us to have a look at? Mine looks very similar to yours. I too use a time range.
Michel Kohanim Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Hi zerop, I very much suspect a thermostat setting or thermostat program. What you might want to look at is Tools | Log and check the last column and see whether or not the reversion to the original values is from System. If so, it means that the thermostat itself caused the reversion. With kind regards, Michel
