I received an email from Smarthome that I/O Linc and all I/O Linc kits are 25% off today only.

The discount is for only the I/O (select) kits not for the unit itself.

The price showing now for the I/O Linc itself is $34.49. I believe that's not the regular price. I might be wrong though.

This sounds like it is getting more frequent. Perhaps SH will lower the prices soon or continue with attention getting sales to detract from other HA systems before their proverbial  feet get in the door.

On first page click on the I/O Linc module and it will give you the module by itself at 25% off.

I bought a couple.

I've been observing that all year. HA is appealing to the general consumer, where price will be a bigger factor. Even though there's a feature / quality spectrum across Zwave and Zigbee, consumers aren't going to necessarily be aware of that over price. I also think SHs black friday specials over the years came back to haunt them, I know I'm trained to wait.

The prediction is that lower Insteon prices will settle in eventually once the disruption is more pronounced.

$31 shipping to Canada for one item. I guess SH doesn't really want Canadians to buy direct from them. Classic marketing.

I can lob one across the Detroit River. You'll have to catch it. Or, send a drone over.

It was the famous you get the e-mail first before the people on the other end updated the site. I should not be surprised by this anymore as this has been seen on at least 15 different adverts this year alone.

Sigh . . .

As I understand it its their insistence on using the same freaking jumbo sized box to ship clear across the 49th parallel. Its a simple money grab to line their pockets plain and simple.

Just today I saw an advert from an American company that stated they will ship to Canada for a flat rate of $15.XX. Guess who that was??

That's right SmartThings web site . . .

Every time I hear or read about how it cost more, takes more time, more paper work, blah, blah. I just wanted to rip someones throat out with a dull spoon.

No . . .

It does not take more time the bulk of the mailing systems and business have this automated. It simply comes down to giving the person a choice in USPS services and rates. Even if you used UPS / Fed Ex all major companies have shipping discounts offered to them for being a good customer.

It comes down to (IF) they will pass along those savings to the consumer . . .

Let me set up that receiving net when you use that super sized trebache!

Thanks

I've tried a drone but customs like to keep the drones until the batteries go dead and then throw them in the river claiming recharging batteries isn't their responsibility. Also Homeland what's-their-name gets real nervous when things fly in from Canada, especially when it doesn't identify itself. We've heard the real story behind Hangar 51. :)

I did get in on amazon.com's PLM deal though, since my v1.B is coming up two years old. They also have MS units for $21. After currency exchange I still saved about $30 and that will get rid of my last two X10 MSes. They seem so slow now.

I had to take amazon's Prime membership trial which I need to cancel as soon as they are shipped. Imagine paying $99 per year to be allowed to buy stuff at a store?  Meanwhile 95% of amazon.com stuff will not ship to Canuckistani, eh?
