Michael Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 (edited) Good morning, I have a Insteon HUB, and a motion sensor, along with other RF components, and PLMs. I can get everything to work but the motion sensor. And I guess I am trying to confirm if mine is bad. I can link it no issue, and click the setup button to run through all the states. However, once I leave it in the Off state, not motion changes it, unless I actually move the sensor and jar it a little. Any thoughts would be appreciated? Thanks. Edited August 25, 2015 by Michael

Very strange another person is having similar issues unless he physically taps the sensor. Can you try to adjust the sensitivity to its maximum and see how it reacts? http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/16663-motion-sensor-question/
Michael Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Everything is maxed out for sensitivity but basically you have to hit it, to see any response in the events log.
paulbates Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Michael Factory resetting my MS has become liturgy and is easy enough to try in this case. Pull battery, wait a minute, press set button while connecting battery, wait 10 seconds). and then restore (I don't delete the device from the ISY, just factory reset and restore) Mine exhibits flaky sensing behavior when the battery is dying. It now regular practice for me to factory reset it on battery change and then use the ISY to do a restore device. Paul

Hello Michael, For the benefit of the forum members can you please indicate what the sticker says for the hardware production date is along with the ISY firmware version.
larryllix Posted August 25, 2015 Posted August 25, 2015 Interesting I have just had two batteries go dead in MS units and neither reported a lowBatt. One unit had to be factory reset and restored. The other just self-healed after battery replacement. Some testing is coming. I need to fix my variable PS unit first. @Michael. The MS units can take a few minutes after making adjustments to recover and act properly. The factory reset is a prerequisite for the MS units. Over half of mine (I have 9) acted really strange until factory reset.
Michael Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Awesome, I will give it a try, thanks for the input. I will report back
Michael Posted August 25, 2015 Author Posted August 25, 2015 Sure I am at 4.2.30 ISY, and the motion sensor is 1814 REV 2.4S, model 2842-222. Thanks.
Michael Posted August 26, 2015 Author Posted August 26, 2015 Well, I am calling this unit DOA, I am going to order a new one and see if it's me or not Let you know what happens.
