Hello,

I would like to incorporate outdoor temperature into my ISY-99i. Is it still possible to obtain the weatherbug (or equivalent) module? If not, does anyone have a suggestion for an outdoor temperature sensor that works with the 99i?

Thanks!

Hi stringpark,

Unfortunately not since:

a. We moved to HAM and WeatherBug discontinued our account

b. 99 is an obsolete product and it does not make sense to let customers pay more money for it and then be forced to upgrade

With kind regards,

Michel

Thanks for the reply! Can anyone tell me if the ISY-99i receives outdoor temperature from the Insteon thermostat 2441th (with the optional outdoor sensor connected to the thermostat that is)? My current Venstar T1700 thermostat supports an external sensor for outdoor temperature, but the Insteon thermostat adapter does not appear to report this to the ISY.

The Insteon 2441TH (wired) does not support the outdoor sensor. The Insteon 2441ZTH (wireless) does have support for the outdoor sensor, but the sensor does not report to the ISY. Some users have disconnected (unsoldered) the built-in temperature and soldered in the outdoor sensor in its place. That will allow the ISY to respond to the outdoor temperature.

I have an ISY-99i as well and its working great. Its features do everything I need. In fact I just purchased the Mobilinc Pro app and Connect subscription so I could continue to use it with the new iPhone IOS. Is there a reason the Connect module is no longer available on the website for installation? I see no harm in continuing to offer the modules that came as options for this product as long there is a 'no longer developed for' disclaimer. If I need to go to Mobilinc to try and get my money back I'm not going to be a particularly happy customer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim.

Hi Tim,

The reasons are many but the most important ones:

1. Climate module uses WeatherBug ... we had to move to HAM Weather

2. Network module uses SSL ... this is an obsolete cipher suite and pretty much not only useless but a security hole

3. We have made many changes to networking layer since 3.3.10

With kind regards,

Michel

You could get an Autelis bridge and a 1-wire sensor, and have it post the outside temperature to a variable on the 99. There are other devices as well.

As to Mobilinc, it will not work against a 99 on newer phones, as SSL3 is the only available option on the 99, but SSL3 is now gone from the latest Android and IOS versions.

Thanks for the quick responses. It seems Mobilinc Pro still has HTTP as a connection option if using manual port forwarding (which I am) so I'm going to pass on the Connect subscription and go that route with my 99i. It seems to work remotely just fine over Wifi. Cellular is giving me some grief at this point.

If you use HTTP over cellular, you are giving your username and password to every provider in between your phone and home. If you use HTTP on public WiFi, you are giving your ISYs username and password to all other users of that WiFi, as well as the operator.

Do you have your garage door connected to your ISY? I hope not. HTTP for remote access is strongly discouraged.

AFAIK, there is no list.

If the device was made in the last 3 years it probably does not work, since the 99 was discontinued 3 years ago and no updates are available since then.

I've successfully added Micro Modules to a 99i. BTW, you'll need a separate powrer supply if you are replacing a 2412S with a 2413S.

I cannot fin exactly when these device were introduced by SmartHome.

It is hard to believe that there is no list of supported device for a specific equipment/firmware version, may be someone at UDI can help?

Thanks again,

Sylvain

It's hard to believe that someone would create and maintain a list of devices compatible with a product discontinued than three years ago. But, you're welcome to be the first B)
