seacontracting Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Hi There I have a few devices/lights on my ISY and set my system so that my Elk control the lights and devices. My lights and devices are triggered with rules on my M1 and they work very well. The status of the lights/devices are not correctly shown on my Ekeypad or M1 to go : Example: If light/s are turned on by rules/manually or via ISY the status is not updated on eKeypad If i control my lights from eKeypad the status gets updated correctly(on ekeypad) and the lights turn off/on as instructed. I've check my globals and all 6 are ticked. Any advice on settings would be appreciated
elvisimprsntr Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 That the correct behavior. The Elk does not receive status from the ISY for devices or scenes. Importing devices/scenes into the Elk allows for control only. If you purchase the Elk add on module for the ISY, the ISY CAN receive status of zones from the Elk. I suggest you purchase the Elk add on module and place all your rules in the ISY. I partition my rules between the Elk and ISY like this. Elk for event driven rules, i.e. change is status of zone, alarm, etc. ISY for time based rules. This is for two reasons. The Elk has historically had problems during DST change over. Two, it is much easier to program rules in the ISY.
apostolakisl Posted November 6, 2015 Posted November 6, 2015 Did you export your ISY lighting setup and then import that into Elk? If you did not, Elk won't know the status of scenes that were controlled by something other than Elk since the scene address would be unknown to Elk. The import will require some reworking of Elk rules as the Elk light ID's will change.
seacontracting Posted November 6, 2015 Author Posted November 6, 2015 Hi Thanks for the reply's elvisimprsntr : I have putchased the Elk add on module, and my zones and output status are reflected correctly in both the ISY and Elk. My Elk should not have a problem with DST, I live in Western Australia and we dont have daylight saving. It's my lights status only that are not correctly displayed in eKeypad/M1 to go. apostolakisl : I did indeed export my lighting setup to my Elk At the moment i just find the elk rules easier for complicated tasks , probably should spend a bit more time with the ISY rules and make them work. Dit a bit more testing and found that if my lights status are on and correctly displayed everywhere( Elk,Isy,eKeypad) and I turn the light off manually (switch) all my devices are updated, but when i turn the light back on (wait about 30s) manually the correct status is only displayed in ISY and not in Elk(eKeypad/M1 to go)
Michel Kohanim Posted November 8, 2015 Posted November 8, 2015 Hi seacontracting, If the status of lights are reflected correctly in ISY but not on ELK, then please checkout this troubleshooting link: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-994i_Series_INSTEON:ELK_Security_Module#Troubleshooting With kind regards, Michel
seacontracting Posted November 9, 2015 Author Posted November 9, 2015 Hi Michel Thanks for that, I've done all that. Any other ideas what the problem could be ? Like I posted above after more testing it seems that the problem is more common when I switch my lights on that the Elk does not update correctly.
Michel Kohanim Posted November 10, 2015 Posted November 10, 2015 Hello seacontracting, Please remove all the ELK lighting exports from your ELK, import only one device and let's test only with that. I will need the contents of the event viewer for two cases: 1. When you physically turn on/off that device 2. When you turn on/off that device using the Admin Console I will also need your Error Log. Please send them all to support@universal-devices.com . With kind regards, Michel
seacontracting Posted November 13, 2015 Author Posted November 13, 2015 Hi Michel I will get on to the above, but i thought i might mention . I did a bit more experimenting and found the following. I thought I would just ceate an output in Elk and program it to follow the status of my light, short term solution. but that does not work either. I created the rules first in Elk , nothing. Then I created programs in ISY to do it, also nothing. I can see under the summary that the program triggered, but my elk ststus did not change. so at first i thought it was just a light issue, but it seems that its more. On the admin console i can see the Elk zones change status as zones are violated and restored, reliable and quickly. So to me it seems Elk is talking to ISY, but ISY is not talking to Elk . I'll go through my setup again and make double sure it is correct Just checked something else, I have two variables that when it changes activates an ISY program that changes an output in Elk. The Elk is updated without fail so far
Michel Kohanim Posted November 15, 2015 Posted November 15, 2015 Hi seacontracting, Have you checkout this link? http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-994i_Series_INSTEON:ELK_Security_Module#Troubleshooting Specifically: Symptom Not receiving updates from Elk although ISY is connect to Elk Solution You most likely do not have the Serial Checkboxes in Elk Globals G29-42 selected (see Configuring Elk above for details) With kind regards, Michel
seacontracting Posted November 17, 2015 Author Posted November 17, 2015 Hi Michel The globals are ticked. It's only the manual/ISY "ON" that does not get updated in Elk. if i turn the light on in Elk ( staus updated) and turn the light off manually it does get updated in Elk. So my work around this : In ISY I created a variable that reflects the status of the light, this variable then triggers an output in Elk I called " Back Light" , works everytime without fail no matter which combination I turn the light on or off.
Michel Kohanim Posted November 17, 2015 Posted November 17, 2015 Hi seacontracting, This is not good because it should work. How about the Serial check boxes? With kind regards, Michel
