Teken
when trying to add to isy an old original Remotelinc (old type but never been used) I get the error message "Cannot determine Insteon Engine" and it does not add. any ideas? Assuming you have good RF coupling from any dual band device. Take the Remote Linc as far away from the 2413s PLM and try again as this issue has been well documented. Link to comment
jkraus
wow I must be having some communication issues see other post whee I cannot write to devices. really wondering what is going on here! Link to comment
Michel Kohanim
Hi jkraus, Do you have any INSTEON thermostats or (non-INSTEON) baby monitors? If you have thermostats, unplug them and retry. If you have baby monitors, unplug them and retry! With kind regards, Michel Link to comment
jkraus
Michel I have no Thermostat or baby monitors. I seem to have no RF communication. see my other thread. Very frustrating, do not know what to do. Thx Joe Link to comment
Michel Kohanim
Hi Joe, Is this isolated only to your RemoteLincs? Do you have any other RF only devices and, if so, do they work? With kind regards, Michel Link to comment
jkraus
interesting, I just tried updateing my mini remotelinc and it worked fine. ..but other older remotelincs ( the big ones) do not Link to comment
Brian H
I had to move my original RemoteLincs to the other end of the house near an Access Point. To program or change things. So the 2413S PLM could not receive the Insteon RF signals from the Remotelinc and the Access Point had to reach the PLM by power line commands. Link to comment
jkraus
Ok I removed my signalinc (per Michel in private email) and moved the old remotelinc far away from the PLM near a dual ban lamplinc and now all programed good. Man who would have known! Very weird. Is everyone moving away from the old remotelincs? Thanks for your help! Link to comment
Brian H
I am not moving away from mine. I don't like the new RemoteLinc2's I actually saw they where being discontinued and bought a few spares from a dealer that had some from bulk packaging. Link to comment
