David D Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I am battling some intermittent communication issues with Insteon and have identified a few signal suckers in my house using my Elk ESM1. I've got a few Insteon Filterlincs and an ACT AF120, but would like to use a hard-wired solution in an area or two. Does anyone have experience with the X-10Pro XPF here?: http://www.smarthome.com/x10-xpf-20a-3-wire-x10-noise-filter.html The price is right, with the only downside being it's size. Any thoughts? Thanks! David
stusviews Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 I use that filter for the circuit to our computer room. It is effective and it is big. BTW, any X10 filter will work for Insteon.
paulbates Posted February 13, 2016 Posted February 13, 2016 David I use the XPNR, its smaller and easier to wire. Its been very effective. Its made by X10 pro, Smarthome doesn't have it, I got mine on amazon Paul
David D Posted February 14, 2016 Author Posted February 14, 2016 It just occurred to me that the filter I listed might be more of a noise filter than a "signal sucker" filter? If I have an appliance that is a signal sucker, wouldn't I need a pass through type of filter (i.e., signal blocking as opposed to noise suppressing? EDIT: I went back and looked at the installation sheet and the XPF DOES go in-line like I need. I've placed my order! Thanks!David
stusviews Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 A filter is both a signal stomper and signal sucker filter.
