garybixler
I was very disappointed with the performance of the Ecobee in regards that changes in the thermostat could take 3 minutes for the ISY to see that change. Now looking at the T7900. I wound like to know how communications will work with the T7900 and NodeLink. Will any changes in the thermostat (temp, mode, etc) be seen immediately by the ISY. Is it a polling process or are changes automatically sent to NodeLink? Can commands be set to the thermostat from the ISY with or without the cloud? preferably without. Is the cloud necessary for functionality? Thanks for any advice. Gary
io_guy
It is not cloud based, polled every 30s. Ecobee was 3min because that's the min poll time their API allows.

Venlink polls the stat and sends to the ISY. The setting is in seconds and defaults at 30. I tried 15 seconds with 2 stats and determined that was too much activity, as I have ISY programs controlling ventilation, etc. Is it a polling process or are changes automatically sent to NodeLink? Polling, as stated above. This is non-subscribing rest product based architecture limitation, not a Nodelink limitation. Can commands be set to the thermostat from the ISY with or without the cloud? preferably without. Yes. One of the key advantages of the Venstar colortouch series is standalone local API in addition to cloud. You can run them separately, or side by side. I do this with 2 thermostats and this model works well for me. Is the cloud necessary for functionality? Not for the ISY, but yes if you want use the skyport cloud website, or the mobile apps Thanks for any advice. Gary
