Does the ISY " Listen " to manually Programming?

I was wondering, if I link my Insteon Switchlinc Dimmers and Keypads Manually, ( the procedure described in the owner manual,) does the ISY Monitor and record the links / controller responder relationships?  So if I ever had to restore a switch or the ISY, would those manual links be restored as well. It just takes so darn long for the ISY to write the programming, the manual way is quicker.

I have an ISY994i/IR Pro running 4.3.26

Scenes are very easy to create and is the ISY equivalent to manual linking.  No programming required but you have the option to extend scene functionality through programming and the admin console (user interface.)

I moved from another system and rebuilt my links one functional group of devices at a time. Its relatively fast and I have a backup of everything.

Scenes don't take that long for me to create.. Its <ctrl> click on devices and drag them into the scene, indicate which are controllers.

Can you provide details on what part of that process is slow, eg the clicking and dragging, or the time it takes the ISY to write the updates?

Creating the scenes are a piece of cake. It is just waiting for the ISY to write the changes. I know about the button in the tool bar that will allow you to do all the programming at once, then you can click the button and the changes are done, but I want to create a scene, then go and test it. it takes a long time to write. And I have over 120 devices in my home.

I'm not sure total number of devices should matter. The writes go to a set of devices at a time. Can you provide a short narrative of one set of devices and related scenes.... here is an example I just did:

  • 2 inline lincs, a light bulb and an iolinc
  • 1 test scene
  • 1 minute 30 seconds

What kind of results are your getting?
