Venstar - Missing T7900 control

Using NodeLink 4.1 and I find some confusion between the "Fan Mode" and "Fan State"

Both statuses seem to be available in ISY via NodeLink 4.1 on the ISY device status page but I find no controls for the Fan State control pulldown.

Browsing the .zip file I find both statuses defined in the .XML files but I find some possible confusion in the commands between the fanmode and fanstate with this line and other lines  found.

<cmd id="CLIFS">

<p id="" editor="I_TSTAT_FAN_MODE" init="CLIFS"/>

I also find no definition in the Venstar API document for the Fan State control as if it was just forgotten.

Am I missing something?  It becomes impossible to know where a fan status change is coming from in ISY so the "Fan Mode" needs to be operated from ISY to run the stat fan.  Manual fan on  setting cannot be differentiated to detect manual control from ISY?

Has this been missed in implementation?  (it would appear so)

    Not implemented due to the API definition missing the control?

    Tried and just not available?

    Needs development yet for later?

Thanks io_guy.

Larry,

  • Fan mode is how you remotely turn the fan on and off with Nodelink.
  • Fan state is read only and tells you if its turned on or not. There are several scenarios that the the stat may initiate start/stop of the Fan outside of Nodelink control, and this lets you monitor that:
    • User input on the touch screen fan control from the T7900
    • Run Fan with humidity on demand feature (and effects from Nodelink venstar auto-humidity control)
    • Using the smartfan feature in either the thermostat or its Nodelink form

Thanks Paul.

I still wonder if the API supports the fanstate control but the API docs forgot to document it and thus io_guy didn't implement it.

The code lines appear mixed in many places of the XMLfiles as one line is posted above.

I didn't know there was two statuses until I realised there is not way to know is the fan mode is operated to abort ISY shutting it off again.

More exploring in order here yet.
