binaryman Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 I have an Aeon labs smart meter (AEDSB09104ZWUS) that added fine initially, and has been reporting fine... I initially had two nodes. node one included current power, and total power. node two included battery level. I was in the other day, and noticed that in node two in addition to battery level, it now showed oddly a speed in meters\sec for some odd reason.. a week later in node one in addition to the above it added current voltage (which I'm sure this meter cannot provide). now just today in node one it also added pulse count (so now 4 items total in node 1, 2 in node 2). Seems very odd to me.. only thing I've done on or around the times I noticed these extra items (I don't get in a lot to look) was add more zwave devices.... Is this a bug, oddity, ???
mwester Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Well it's certainly an oddity. And in as much as a bug can be defined as any unexpected or erroneous behavior, I'd say it's a bug, too. With z-wave, the ISY doesn't know in advance what a z-wave device is capable of reporting upon, so whenever it gets a message that (for some reason) is damaged, it just adds it anyway, creating the extra items if it deems that necessary. So my Leviton on/off switch now has a temperature sensor, at least according to the ISY. Any my multisensor in the garage has suddenly begun to measure wind speed. All you can do is delete the errant fields; deleting and re-adding the z-wave device will mess up your programs (the node ID will change).
Michel Kohanim Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 Hi mwester, One correct: ISY does KNOW what the device is capable of reporting. Now, if a device sends a value outside of what was agreed with during negotiation, then ISY simply creates a node for it. With kind regards, Michel
binaryman Posted April 17, 2016 Author Posted April 17, 2016 ok.. now it's added a whole extra node with water volume... and one of my smoke alarms now has an energy meter (power and total power) node, and multilevel node with rain rate..... seems like more times goes on more oddities. is this normal? or any idea how to prevent? Yeah, I really don't want to mess up my programs.. how do I delete an errant node or errant field in correct node without doing this?
Chris Jahn Posted April 18, 2016 Posted April 18, 2016 ok.. now it's added a whole extra node with water volume... and one of my smoke alarms now has an energy meter (power and total power) node, and multilevel node with rain rate..... seems like more times goes on more oddities. is this normal? or any idea how to prevent? Yeah, I really don't want to mess up my programs.. how do I delete an errant node or errant field in correct node without doing this? 1) Make an ISY backup 2) Delete all the ISY nodes for the device (don't exclude the device, just delete the ISY nodes right+click +> delete in the device tree). Note you have to delete the primary node last (the one with address ending in "_1" e.g. "ZW003_1") 3) Do a Z-Wave -> Tools -> Synchronize Nodes -> New & Deleted This will recreate the nodes as they were with the same addresses. After you are done, restart the ISY.
binaryman Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 Did all this.. I was able to delete the 'extra' isy nodes, however none of the valid zwave ISY nodes have the delete option available.. only disable.. I backed up, deleted 'extra' nodes, updated to 446 and after restart the valid nodes had only correct values.. however now its the next day and the 'extra' nodes are back and then some... and the extra fields are also slowly adding themselves back into the valid nodes... ideas?
binaryman Posted April 19, 2016 Author Posted April 19, 2016 nevermind, I had to remove them from a folder before could delete them.. will keep all posted
binaryman Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 nope. All the randomness still coming back... further ideas?
binaryman Posted April 20, 2016 Author Posted April 20, 2016 Anyone? any more ideas? it's quite a nuisance, or is this just going to be a zwave gimme on ISY?
Michel Kohanim Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Hi binaryman, Please right mouse click on the spurious nodes | Z-Wave | Show Information in Event Viewer | All and paste here. Please note that some of these issues may have already been solved in 5.0.x. With kind regards, Michel
binaryman Posted April 22, 2016 Author Posted April 22, 2016 this is all that shows. Also here is a screenshot attached of what the invalid extra nodes look like.
