There's an app called Roger for both Andriod and IOS that connects with Echo. It's basically a walkie talkie phone app (a la the old Sprint). My guess is the developer read through the Java code that Amazon posted on github for the Raspberry Pi.

I tried it out and was able to turn on a house light remotely.

Nice! Thanks for the info Kevin. I want to install echo sometime this year and this is another good reason.

It's kinda cool. It won't do weather though...unless you want/need to know the weather at Amazon HQ in Seattle.

Fixed the weather issue. The Roger app sets itself up as an Echo device on the Alexa app so all I had to do was to change its location settings.

KOOL!  Great find!  Got it working with Echo and maybe later will play with other features.
