"Z-Wave dongle not responding" on my ISY994i PRO with Z-Wave dongle

Last July I purchased a Kwikset Smartcode 914 lock for my front door. I also purchased the Z-Wave dongle and software for it. With the help of a AEOTEC DSD37-ZWUS I was able to get the lock working so that I would receive messages and lock and unlock it using my MobiLinc Pro app on my iPhone. At the time of the install I was on version 4.2.30 of the ISY software and I had the most current version of the Z-Wave software.

Sometime after version 4.3.26 of the ISY software became available, I upgraded the ISY. Since that time, my Z-Wave done hasn't worked. Because it only affected the Kwickset 914, I wasn't in a hurry to tackle the problem. I recently upgraded the software to 4.4.6 of the ISY and the problem still exists. Below is what I get when I select Z-Wave from the menus bar:

Selections available when the Z-Wave menu item is selected

1. ! Z-Wave dongle not responding

2. Upgrade Z-Wave firmware

Clicking on #1 does nothing.

Clicking on #2 I get a popup with the following:

The Z-Wave dongle is still a member if the Z-Wave network.

Before upgrading the Z-Wave firmware, you should exclude the Z-Wave dongle from the Z-Wave network.

I have no way to exclude the Z-Wave dongle, how do I fix this?

What version of Zwave firmware are you at? Should be 4.55. If you are at 4.55 I would backup the Zwave dingle and do a reset.

It is at 4.55. The problem I'm having is that I cannot backup or reset the dongle because these options are not displaying under the Z-Wave menu item in the Administrative Console.

I don't have z-wave but for...

Factory reset you should see the option under Z-Wave > Advanced

Dongle backup  Z-Wave > Tools > Backup

I would love to be able to do this but the menu items are not displayed to select from

My next move would be to power down the ISY and try reseating the dongle.

I have done this, twice now, and it does not help.

Hi Harvm,

Please go to Help | About and make sure the UI version is also 4.4.6. If not:

1. Clear Java cache

2. Go to http://isy.universal-devices.com/994i/admin.jnlp... USE THE ICON on the desktop

With kind regards,

Michel

I have also done this again but I still cannot get anything in the Z-Wave menu item to display other than that the ! Z-Wave dongle is not responding.

I tried to include screen shots but I guess I'm not allowed.

Actually.. if the UI is behaving correctly you may need to shut ISY down and reseat the dongle?

I saw similar behavior when I wasn't successfully logging into the admin console. It happened when I updated to 5.0.4 and it forgot my password, so maybe it's something similar for you. Do you see the rest of your nodes? Is the Login item in the File menu grayed out?

Did you first exclude the dongle--and all Z-Wave devices--before selecting Yes?

At this time I cannot do this because I do not have a menu option to do this.

I guess at the time I updated to 4.3.26 I didn't do this because this is when I started have this problem with Z-Wave. I'm guessing this is what I did because I'm not that familiar with Z-Wave.
