jbev Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 Not sure if this makes sense, but when I create scenes the devices take a bit of time to do their thing. For example I have a relay in my bedroom that I added to the scene last. As a result I have all kinds of fancy diming in the go to sleep scene, but the last thing to happen is the fan/light clicks off. It kinda ruins the effect of all that dimming taking place. I was wondering if there could be an easier way of organizing what gets started first than deleting everything and re-adding it in the order I want.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 jbev, VERY INTERESTING ... I actually agree with you! Unfortunately, with INSTEON, a group command is sent to the whole group and it all depends on the response time of devices, within the group. In short, the answer is No. But you and accomplish that with triggers. With kind regards, Michel Not sure if this makes sense, but when I create scenes the devices take a bit of time to do their thing. jbev Posted September 30, 2007 Author Posted September 30, 2007 I've done some experiments. The group order can be changed depending on what order you add them to the group. The devices that are added first get their orders first, the ones that are added next get their second and so on. Basically to do this manually I have to delete all devices from the group and re-add them in the order I want. It can be done, but its ugly. I was just looking for an automatic version of this.
Michel Kohanim Posted September 30, 2007 Posted September 30, 2007 jbev, This is quite strange and definitely outside of INSTEON specifications. Based on your experiments, I believe SmartHome should get back on the drawing board! Are you back/up and running? With kind regards, Michel I've done some experiments. When a group command is sent ALL devices in that group should respond at once. After the group command is sent individual devices are sent cleanup commands. If you are not seeing the devices respond to the group command at once then there is a communication problem. Rand
jbev Posted October 7, 2007 Author Posted October 7, 2007 I've been on the road again so I haven't had the chance to do any new experiments, but I've tried a number of different arrangements and every time I have all 12 of the devices on the scene I can see the order difference. Some of them have long ramp rates in the order of minutes so I wonder is that may have something to do with it.
Michel Kohanim Posted October 7, 2007 Posted October 7, 2007 Hi jbev, Welcome back. Yes, long ramp rates surely have an impact since it takes longer for the devices to turn on.
