Cwr5033 Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Hi All, I recently purchased the garage door kit. After some frustration realizing I have a MyQ garage door opener and needing to solder directly to a spare remote, I was able to get the iolink to control the garage door opener. Now my problem is that whenever the magnetic sensor triggers 'on' (closed), its actually triggering the relay, and opening the door again?!?! I have searched for a bit on here to see if others had asked about the same issue, but I havent seen anything. Why would this be the default? Or do I have something odd going on. Thanks in advance!!
stusviews Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 What are all the options set at? What are you using as a controller? Responder? Are you using scenes or programs?
paulbates Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Hi- In the admin console, click on the iolinc, and then click options on the bottom center of the panel. If "relay follows input" is checked, uncheck it. This is the likely culprit. Test operation of the door from all controllers, GDO remotes to make sure it works Paul
elvisimprsntr Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) Another example why I don't use the IOLInc for GD control. I've found the IOLinc is not reliable enough and had too many of them fail for no apparent reason. I use an Elk output and zone input with my chamberlain GD motor. I hope you are not going to autonomously or blindly closing the garage door. I encourage you to read the following. http://www.cepro.com/article/potential_legal_liabilities_for_integrating_garage_doors_with_home_automati Edited July 12, 2016 by elvisimprsntr

It's all built in. Best regards, Gary Funk
larryllix Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 That's why I installed a LiftMaster MyQ system. It's all built in. Best regards, Gary Funk I have never seen a GDO system that came with legal documents being sold.
G W Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 I have never seen a GDO system that came with legal documents being sold. The documents came with the system at no extra charge. Best regards, Gary Funk
larryllix Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 (edited) The documents came with the system at no extra charge. Best regards, Gary Funk Did the extra bill for the $475 scare tactics come with a non-disclosure contract also? I wouldn't tell anybody either :) When your GDO chops some intruder in half you are better off not to admit your were ever advised against doing what was involved with the accident.. That is negligence then. The lawyers love this stuff. After they make their dreamed up possibility public, they now have negligence cases to defend, as you have no ignorance to plead. Before that announcement, it was an honest mistake/mishap in somebody's home whereas the homeowner used every safety device made available by common sales knowledge. It's definitely a dog eat dog world out there. The "Did you know somebody done you wrong and it's always somebody else' fault?" billboards are starting in Canada, as well, now. G W Posted July 12, 2016 Posted July 12, 2016 Colorado is a little bit different. We still six-shooters on our hip. And frankly, I really don't care what happens to an intruder. I have no assets for anyone to go after. Best regards, Gary Funk

Since we are not all that good at hacking we would have to break in and steal the only valuable thing there...your ISY994i. You have to watch your assets! Not in your mind, but in the mind of the thief. Edited July 12, 2016 by larryllix

G W Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Yes, in case anyone wonders, I have a lot of sidearms and a 1973 M-16 and a 2016 AR-15. Best regards, Gary Funk
stusviews Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 No armament at all. Much better protection. If I revealed it, then it would no longer be better
G W Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Armament isn't protection, it's retaliation. I have good security which alerts to a potential threat. I still open and close my overhear garage door remotely. Best regards, Gary Funk
G W Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Agreed. But should some be stupid enough to persist, I will retaliate. Best regards, Gary Funk
larryllix Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 It is usually frowned upon, here, when you attack the 1 year old toddler from next door, with your GDO while attempting to crawl under to get that ball. That is the usual argument from the legal crowd on auto garage door closers.as per post #4. Unfortunately the links are all about selling contracts and the attempt to sell them through fear mongering but the risk does exist. I don't have my contacts connected to my GDO but only because of the ISY All On problem and laziness to connect. OTOH: I don't have the need for this HA or remote control due to my schedule and friendly neighbours I could call. I would have to worry more about racoons getting into my garbage than human intruders. I built this house without a security system.
