Open/Close no longer seems to work?

When I first setup my Alex / ISY I was able to say things like "Alexa open/close the garage".  Since a few weeks ago (or so) I now have to use "Alex turn on/off the garage" to get echo to open / close the garage door - which sound silly.  Any idea what changed or how I can get the original functionality back?

I was having this issue till I used the command "Alexa - tell izzy to open/close the garagedoor"  instead of "Alexa open/close the garagedoor"  "garagedoor = program for determine correct garagedoor status and action"

Can someone explain to me or point to the rationale for Amazon restricting the use of the word "open"? When the ISY Optimized for Smart Home updated to V2 I lost the capability to simply say "open garage door". Now I have to say "turn on garage door". Why is it safer to turn on a garage door than to open a garage door?

Interesting. I added our GDO yesterday and used open/close. I just read your post and tried. Open/close works!!!

edit: Maybe 'door' is a problem. I didn't use that word.

Hi nandor,

Amazon restricted the use of open for security reasons. They mentioned that they were going to come up with a more secure solution for locks and security systems.

With kind regards,

Michel

I was hopeful when I saw your post, stusviews, so I changed the "Spoken" word in ISY portal, removed all discovered devices in Alexa app and re-discovered devices. Unfortunately Alexa's response is the same when I saw "Open garage": "I'm not quite sure how to help you with that."

I still seem to be running into what Michel referred to above. My question remains: Why is "open" more insecure than "on"?

Same here, I had the garage door working with open/close command but now its not finding it. I have both garage and garage door as triggers and neither will work with the open/close command.  Hoping Amazon will change this as asking alexa to turn on the garage is awkward.

"Operate the garage door" works for me and is not quite as awkward.

aceball, You're right. It is a little less awkward. Hilariously, the first time I tried it though, Alexa added "Garage Door" to my shopping list.
