rafarataneneces Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Every time I try to do something with the thermostat (ex: Alexa turn thermostat down 6F) I get "that command is not supported on device thermostat"Anybody knows what I am doing wrong? Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Hi rafarataneneces, List of available commands for thermostats are at the bottom of this link: http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY_Portal_Amazon_Echo_Integration#Instructions_for_Smart_Home_API' With kind regards, Michel Quote
rafarataneneces Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 it's not working I set up the name of to 'thermostat' on the ISY Portal, is that ok? Quote
larryllix Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 it's not working I set up the name of to 'thermostat' on the ISY Portal, is that ok? hmmmmm... I think "thermostat" is a reserved word that would confuse alexa. IIRC it is what you call it in the my.isy.io.com setup that counts. Quote

I changed 'thermostat' to 'house' and 'wireless thermostat' to 'bedroom' "Alexa set house temperature to 74 degrees" Still doesn't work Quote
stusviews Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I just ask Alexa to set the thermostat_name to X, no need to include "thermostat." temperature," "degrees," or any other modifier. Quote
rafarataneneces Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 This is what the wiki says: Set [device] temperature to [##] degrees: "Alexa, set bedroom to 75 degrees" on ISY Portal, what should I do? add the thermostat (device) and give it a name? Quote
stusviews Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 Yes. Avoid using "thermostat" in the name. Quote
rafarataneneces Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 I already renamed it to 'bedroom' and it's not working I also have another thermostat and renamed it to 'office' and it doesn't work Quote
larryllix Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 It only matters what voice recognition names you give it in the portal Quote
rafarataneneces Posted August 2, 2016 Author Posted August 2, 2016 It only matters what voice recognition names you give it in the portal Yes in the portal I renamed insteon thermostat to 'bedroom' and the insteon wireles thermostat to 'office' and it is not working Quote
stusviews Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 And you're avoiding saying "thermostat" altogether? I just use, "Alexa, set bedroom to 75." The thermostat must already be on. Quote

Yes I have repeatedly said this is not working and I have followed the instructions. It's not working unless I'm missing something? So the thermostat needs to be cooling for it to work??? Quote
stusviews Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 The thermostat needs to be in any mode but off. If it's off, then you need to turn it on. You can do that manually or vocally. Quote

Well the thermostat was in "Auto Program" (Insteon Thermostat) but it was NOT 'Calling for Cool" I will try again this night when I'm home with different scenarios, hopefully I can get it working!!! Make sure after any changes to use "Discover" again or it won't matter. Quote
Michel Kohanim Posted August 3, 2016 Posted August 3, 2016 Hi rafarataneneces , 1. Does anything else work? 2. Do you do "Alexa, discover devices" every time you make changes to names? 3. Have you looked at Alexa app to see what it's hearing? With kind regards, Michel Quote
