Hidden Door Sensor won't Link

I've had an ISY 99i/IR PRO for a long time, and it's been reliable and easy to program - have about 20 devices connected.   I just tried to add a 2845-222 hidden door sensor but have been unable to get the device to link.   I have read through other posts for this device and understand the issues with linking a battery device - have tried several linking approaches.   To narrow down the problem, I tried to link the sensor to an insteon hub - that worked fine.   I have also previously linked a battery powered motion sensor to the ISY and that works fine.   The ISY seems to start communicating with the door sensor (can determine the type of device when I have it auto discover) but still always comes back with "Cannot add insteon device"

Below is what the even view log shows - any suggestions?

Factory reset the device then try to add it to the ISY using the auto discover option.  Make sure that the sensor is first put into the linking mode.

What version of the ISY firmware and UI are you running?.

Interesting result;   After factory reset it looked like it was going to link - the progress bar started counting up.  It got to about 5% and then failed with a different statement - now says, "Cannot determine Insteon Engine".   I've been wondering if I will need to upgrade from my 99i to the 994i but still would think that if the motion sensor links, this one should also . . .

ISY firmware: v.3.3.10

UI: v.4.5.1

Just because one device links doesn't mean others will. Insteon updates/revises their devices on an ongoing basis. Even if it's the same device, a newer revision may not work with the older ISY. Many current devices won't, so if you need to add or even replace a device, you may not succeed.

Time to upgrade (at the upgrade price) B)

OK - I guess I thought this might be the answer but was hoping for a better solution . . .  thanks.  I'll post results after I replace the controller.

The device is most likely not supported in your firmware version. The hidden door sensor has only been available for a short time.

Which ISY do you have 99i or 994?,  If it's the 99i then it is not longer supported and you'll need to upgrade to the 994.
