jakked
So does this unit not get power from the PLM? Finally getting my unit installed after bench testing and it appears from connecting to an SmartHome 2431S that a power supply is required. The product page for the ISY944i indicates no power supply is supplied as power is pushed form the PLM. The product page for the ISY944zw does not say this... Link to comment
Teken
No, the 2413S PLM does not supply power to the ISY that was the 2412S PLM of years past. You will need a PSU for the ISY Series Controller which can take a wide range in voltage(s). Link to comment
Brian H
Only the old discontinued for many years now 2412S supplied power through the serial cable. Users that had to replace an old 2412S with a 2413S did have to get the external supply. Are you sure you didn't get the external supply in the box with the ISY994i? The UDI sales site says power supply included. https://www.universal-devices.com/sales/ I took a look at the Smarthome ISY994i offerings. In the What Is Included tab. There is a power supply listed even for the standalone ISY994i with out PLM. Edited September 6, 2016 by Brian H Link to comment
Teken
For informational purposes only the ISY Series Controller can accept a supply voltage from 5-30 DC (center positive). Link to comment
jakked
I guess my question dates me a bit then. This is my second install of a Elk, Insteon, ISY integration. Newly renovated house with all new hardware so didn't anticipate the power supply given my last setup. Thanks! Link to comment
Brian H
If your old setup used a 2412S it did supply power to the ISY Interface. No external one was needed. The 2413S does not supply power to the ISY Interface. If it is a new one, there should have been a power supply in the ISY Interfaces box. Link to comment
jakked
There is just wasn't planning on having to route the cables to make the install look good. Link to comment
giesen
For informational purposes only the ISY Series Controller can accept a supply voltage from 5-30 DC (center positive). Can any from UDI officially confirm this (and that it is supported). Being able to power my ISY from a 12V source would be pretty awesome. Sent from my SM-N910W8 using Tapatalk Link to comment
Brian H
You may want to wait for an official reply for a ISY994i. The ISY99i information says 5V to 30V DC. 300 mA. http://wiki.universal-devices.com/index.php?title=ISY-99i/ISY-26_INSTEON:Quick_Start_Guide#Requirements The current rating was updated to 1 amp as the added boards like Z-Wave or ZigBee needed to be taken into account. The one in my ISY994i kit was 5V, 1 Amp. 5.5mm X 2.1mm, center +, DC connector. Link to comment
