windrockwater Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 So i have a electric garage door opener and a 3 button remote in my car. One of the buttons on the remote opens the door. What would i need to utilize the other 2 buttons on the remote to turn on a SWL? Is this possible? I have an X10 handheld remote but the signal strength is crappy (even with a additional x10 booster plugged in the garage!). So is there a device that can read the typical garage wireless signal and then send an insteon signal (or a signal to my ISY to launch a scene)?

gregoryx Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I've been looking for something like that too. There's this HomeLink Z-Wave device that makes me think there are others like it. I'd be perfectly happy with a HomeLink to contact closure device. It looks like this device will do the job; but I haven't tried it.

matapan Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Do Insteon devices plugged into your garage electrical circuit communicate reliably with your ISY? If so, have you considered using an IOLinc as a means to trigger lights?
