For the next two days you can purchase the plugin dimmer / on-off relay module for $39.99 and the HUB II. If you have been curious what the little HUB II can do or wanted to integrate this controller with the ISY Series Controller for $39.99 its a small risk to take.

Damn you!  I just bought the thermostat but have no idea why or what I will do with it.  I wonder if I can use it to monitor by deep freezer???  Must stop reading these sale posts.

LOL . . .

Correct me if I am wrong but the TSTAT can't indicate negative values even with the external probe, no?

Now, that is a smokin deal . . .

I bought the hub and thermostat as a package a little while back since it was cheaper than either individually...

Planned to sell the hub but now seems like they give it away

Teken - can you please fill this newbie (me) in on using the hub and ISY together? I had read that this maybe doesn't work that well but maybe that's changed? New advantages now beyond maybe just the UI of the hub app? Alexa?

The stat indicates 253 for -1 C just before it goes off line.

You may notice this would be -1 degrees under flow when you count by half degrees.

Oh..... So it's set to Celsius. That means it's not good for a freezer monitor.

Short and to the point.

I did some experiments with one of mine about a year ago.

It under flows the 8 bit register and freezes up about -2 C conpletely and quits functioning. I posted these results in a thread back then.

Not good for a freezer.

CAO Tags are the best I have seen for a freezer.

Hello,

This thread will offer some insight and details about the pros and cons of integrating the HUB II with the ISY Series Controller: http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/17271-hub-ii-isy-echo-integration/

Please keep in mind the main driver for that specific thread was to offer those with a HUB II to incorporate the Amazon Echo. This was before UDI offered their portal service to integrate with Echo, Dot, Tap. It should also be noted its a great alternative for those on a limited budget to avoid the 2 year annual charge for the portal service.

Keeping in mind the limitations outlined by Stu and others in that thread.

Having said all of this the information was offered as an alternate short term solution and not intended as a long term home automation integration method.

Hope the information proves helpful to you . . .

The range of the Insteon thermostat is 39° to 104°F (4°to 40°C). It's meant to be an HVAC thermostat, nothing more. You may get lucky and have one that reads beyond that range, but there no guaranty of accuracy beyond the specs.
