That is very odd because we specifically tested the Insteon IRLinc transmitter for 5.0.6.  What exact steps did you take to add the 2411T ?

  • Click on the lightbulb icon
  •
  • Fill in the Insteon address
  • Fill in various names during a dozen or so trials in each v5.0.4 and v5.0.6
  • Leave device type "automatic"
  •
  • Finds and filled in the device type so "first contact" was successful every time.
  •
  • Then error box, as shown above, every time.

I have factory reset the device maybe 5-6 times and tried a piggybacked a dual-band OnOff module on the passthrough receptacle.

These were the ones on sale during the Labour Day SH sale. IIRC, rafar...has one that does the same also in another thread

Hi larryllix,

To add an IRlinc Transmitter, you should not use the lightbulb, but instead use Link Management -> Add Button to IRLinc Transmitter

Thanks! I never looked there before.

I guess it's a long process to add a long list of iR commands. :(

This too, can be assimilated. :)

I have three devices built for the iRlinc but there is no status, or controls on the page (may be a short screen for those).

OK I figured out that I need Scenes to operate things.

When adding iR commands the instructional text box stops commands from proceding. The box must be closed before ISY will report adding the iR command.

I could not get any iR command to be sent with the device page or a looping program.

When attempting to add more iR commands ISY eventually hangs and needs to be rebooted. Further attempts to click on the Link Management results in admin console hanging.

We'll take a look at the dialog boxes, some may be overlapping causing your issues.

Did you do this step, and if so, did it work?   Step 3. (Optional) Tap the Set button to test the learned IR Code

No I didn't do the test. IIRC I had to close the dialogue box to continue though. I had to open and close it for every IR code memorized. The processes seemed hung at that point.

Eventually the admin console wouldn't function and then ISY wouldn't handle other triggers.

After some more experimentation with this iR sender I now find.

  • ISY v5.0.6 has not hung any more
  • ISY instructional text box for node addition "OK" click spot is under the addition box and must be moved on screen to access,
  • ISY takes 3-10 minutes to add each node while the busy slider shows for one to four times= very long process.
  • ISY instructions for this are every confusing, based on being a completely different style of linking process from other Insteon devices. The first linked Node becomes the master device.
  • My iR sender electronics are defective. The immediate test click on the iRlinc does not appear to work as there is no response from the sender LED at all.   ISY, despite seeming to gather all the correct information from the learning process, and create nodes for each, sends nothing, AFAICT.  Next I will try  iR detection using a camara viewfinder that usually shows up iR, to se if it is dead. I tried an iR LED sender, from another piece of equipment, with the same jack with no success.

Does anybody know if these sender LEDs have to be glued right to the front of the receivers or they have enough range to be a few feet away? Being they have supplied two with a wire split between them the may not be capable of transmitting some distance for an iR  signal spread across several pieces of equipment.

Also, do these I sending LEDs transmit from, what looks to be, the end of the plastic lens, or from the side opposite to the double sided adhesive tape?

Thanks larryllix,

We'll fix the location of the dialog boxes, but beyond that unfortunately its just the design of the 2411T.  The steps to perform aren't defined by us, they are defined by the 2411T.   As for performance, we write about 8-bytes to a device for a normal Insteon link, but for an 2411T we usually have to write up many more bytes (usually in the hundreds).
