AEON DoorBell ZW056-A with ISY V4.51... NOW WHAT?

Featured Replies

I received my Aeon DoorBell Aeotec ZW056-A and it works BASICALLY on ISY994i V4.51.

I was able to pair Aeon Doorbell ZW056 to ISY:

-Have the Aeon plugged in and blue led ring blinking slowly
-ISY> Z-wave> Add/IncludeZwaveDevice
-Push the ACTION/SET button on the Aeon
-Now shows up in ISY as (EG)”ZW 004 Siren”
-Now you click ON to ring it

I can connect to my computer via micro-usb, and see the sound files on it, no problems...

I am able to ding it from a program... via DON (Device ON), no problems...
<?xml version="1.0" ?><triggers><d2d><trigger><id>99</id><name>RingDoorbell</name><parent>1</parent><if><and /><schedule><at><time>61860</time></at></schedule></if><then><wait><seconds>5</seconds></wait><device><node>ZW004_1</node><control>DON</control></device></then><else></else><comment></comment></trigger></d2d></triggers>

So, basically, i can at least DING on events... just not SELECTIVE sounds...

I'm not on ISY v5, and not sure HOW LONG until it comes to the "common" folk.  Is this weeks, months, or years away??

At this point, i won't use the RF remote, and am just needing it to announce specific events...

Is this the extent of the current abilities of the doorbell, on ISY V4.51, or can I somehow pass parameters to it and have it play SELECTIVE sounds?

Just a wild guess but... IMHO v5.1.0 beta, will be the next version in less than a month. V5.0.7 looks to be going smoothly, from what I can see.

What happened to 5.0.8, 5.0.9, 5.0.10, 5.0.11, etc, etc, etc.

I like moving versions from 5.0.x for alpha to 5.1.x for beta

That's not how versioning works but it's not our call. UDI can call it a thing they want. I would think the first RC would be 5.0 but I'm not going to try and predict what UDI will do.

My ZW056 should be arriving today and it was good to hear that it does work with v4. I have been using a X-10 chime module for internal notifications and now I should finally be able to replace it with a ZW056. I am looking forward to all the capabilities that v5 will bring however I am going to wait just a little while longer before upgrading since I need to maintain the WAF. :)

I looked through the forum for ZWave doorbell discussions but cannot find out if anybody has figured out how to get a program to trigger when the doorbell is activated normally with the remote.  Lots of chat about using it for annunciation or as a repeater.  As it basically appears as a siren, there are no special options available in a program trigger, just RESPONDING, ON, or OFF.  I fiddled with parameter 80 (notifications) as well, but it makes no difference set to 0, 1 or 2.  So ... is this possible in v4.5.4?   If parameter 80 is set to 2, you do get an entry appearing in the log, but that's not much use in triggering anything.

You can use a combo of the networking module and the REST interface to select/play a specific tune/ring in the doorbell under 4.x.  It's discussed in the pinned first topic of this forums. Basically you set ZWave config parameter 6 (I think) to the # of the song/ring you want to play.  Since setting ZWave params is not in 4.x program logic (it is in 5.x) but is accessible via REST interface, if you have the networking module, you can make a 'request to self' to play the ring.

NOTE: I have not done exactly this myself, but I have used the network module to issue an HTTP command and I've used REST extensively (including playing specific rings from this doorbell) -- it's not too difficult.

Yes, I also have had this working in both 5.0.4 and 5.0.7. In the 5.x versions, you can change parameter 6 directly as a program action. When this is done, the doorbell plays the appropriate sound file.

With IFTTT and the ISY Portal, each member of my family is personally greeted as they arrive home.
