Aeon Labs - Siren Alarm - Gen 5 - Want to flash lights

Hello,

Is it possible to flash the lights in the above device?  Thought I would use them if a door or garage door was open?

I looked at the device in my ISY, and noticed that I could only turn the siren on and off.

Thanks from a newbie, and enjoy your Thanksgiving.

I also just recently purchase this device and I too am looking to better control it.

Would love to be able to access the volume and the different alarm types.

AnthemAVM,

You can use a program to turn the siren on or off or to use the state of the siren as a trigger.

I understood this device was a mutli- channel device. If so 5.XX firmware now supports multi channel devices the firmware is currently in Alpha trials.

Beta trials may start sometime in the New Year after the next two firmware releases.

Apparently not. On 5.XX it still shows as a single node with only ON/OFF options.

Chris has stated that support should come in 5.0.8. It should also support the door bell.

I thought I would throw this in here. It might help to set some of the parameters. I hope the one you have is the ZW080-A17 or this is not going to help.

Also I know that the Vision ZM1601US-5 Siren does have the capability of choosing just the strobe or just the siren or both. I use it and it works fine. It only has one tone available but it gets your attention.

Another one that has 10 different sounds available is the Dome DMS01. I will report back on how it works.

Hope it helps.

Would it be safe to assume that the Vision ZM1601US-5 siren is designed as a battery-operated (takes 4 AA batteries) device and doesn't provide repeater functionality?

From what I've read, this device makes a good repeater.  Can I make this siren chirp or vary the sound level ?

I use my Aeon Labs Siren primarily as a repeater, but also for the notification.

It is loud, so I semi-permanently reduced the volume by putting "sugru" putty over the speaker holes on the front of the device.  The white putty blends in well with the color of the case, and is removable.

You can get it to do just 2 chirps and flashes with this program:

Chirp siren

If
   - No Conditions - (To add one, press 'Schedule' or 'Condition')

Then
        Set 'ZW 012 Siren' On
        Wait  1 second
        Set 'ZW 012 Siren' Off

Remove the "Wait" for a single chirp & flash.

Yes the Vision ZM1601US-5 is a battery unit. It does not repeat. It also has a parameter for setting how long the siren/strobe sounds or flashes, 30s, 60s, 120s, continuous as well as what I stated above. I have yet to try out the Dome DMS01 but it should arrive shortly.

I know this is an old thread  but does It keeps coming up at all of my siren searches.

Does anyone have the siren working on V5.x with multiple modes and the ability to control the strobe light separate from the siren?

I have a Gen 5 siren, and I can set it to 5 different alert tones and three different volume levels (all pretty loud), but nothing in the way of activating the strobe lights separately - I guess that would be an undocumented feature, if it's possible at all.

I used to set it to different tones and volumes for different purposes - one combination of volume/tone for fire, another for leak detection, another for ELK zone violation, etc., which in testing worked reliably.  I quit doing that, since none of these programs have ever run beyond testing, and I would never remember the differences should they activate unexpectedly, and I was concerned that adjusting parameters prior to sounding the alarm might introduce unreliability into the programs.

If you're not in a hurry, Aeotec has a Siren 6 up on their web site that looks quite a bit more configurable (well, they say it will contain at least 15 tones, and can be used as a doorbell).  They offer the visual alerts as a selling point, but don't indicate on the site if the strobes can be activated apart from the chime.  They indicate they'll ship in 2018.

What version of the isy are you on?

Here's a link to parameter settings in the Gen5 siren.

Oh, thank you.. now I got it working.. I could set all 5 tones and 3 volume, but it took some time to realize that I need to input the value in HEX converted to DEC and the resultant is a sum of the volume and sound..

1 Set the volume to Low
2 Set the volume to Medium
3 Set the volume to High
256 sound 1
512 sound 2
768 sound 3
1024 sound 4
1280 sound 5

Example: My default settings shown 259 which is the sum of 3+256 (High+Sound 1)

Another example: Low+Sound 3 = 1+768=769

I couldn't find which parameter activate only the strobe, I guess it's not possible.

Is there any way to set these parameter using REST? If so, I'll be able to use a different setting to each event..

lol, there is a post from Mike on this.. sorry.
