Why doesn't this work with Mac?

I have a new Insteon HD camera 2864-222 and hub that is set up and after help from an Insteon tech (remote access did not work automatically) I can view my camera remotely from both my iPhone and iPad, however I cannot view from my Macbook Pro, nor can I set up remote email or text alerts.

Has anyone had this trouble and found a solution? I can't imagine for as long as Insteon has been around that it should be this difficult to set up this system.

The latest plugin I tried is this http://www.insteon.com/support-knowledgebase/2015/5/12/update-your-hd-wifi-camera-system-firmware but it wouldn't open.

How are you connecting to the ISY?

Welcome to the forum, Kathy!

This is an ISY forum (mostly) and ISY has no support for webcams since video and Home Automation are not really related too closely.

However there are some smart people here with a lot of experience, so I hope you get your solution here.

MacOS (Sierra?) is no longer able to run the plug-in that is needed to access Foscam (Insteon) cameras. Foscam is no longer providing support for macOS. It's a real pain, I have to boot Windows 10 to be able to modify the camera settings. Then you can only use Explorer, not Edge since Edge doesn't support plug-ins.

You can stream the image on macOS using your choice of apps but you can't use Safari to access the camera.

Apparently someone has discovered the fix for macOS Sierra. This link is from foscam.eu for an updated plug-in. Unzip it and run the installer package. You may need to right click on it and open with "Installer". Then you should be able to access your camera. Ignore the missing plug-in line on top of the login screen.

Thanks for finding this.  The plugin crashes in Firefox, but runs fine in Safari.

The IP Camera Tool is a little app to help you find the IP address:port of your camera. No plug-in or anything is required. It merely scans your network for a compatible camera. Since the IP camera Tool is showing empty, it would indicate that your camera is not correctly configured on your network.
