Hi all,

I just replace a failed PLM2413S and did a PLM restored, but somehow I end up losing communication with most of my devices (a few are working).

please help.

Thanks,

Do the devices that you lost communication with show ! or 1011? Are any battery powered? Do you have a Pro version of the ISY.

Have you tried Restore Modem (PLM) more than once (if you have a Pro version, then turn off Include Battery powered devices)? How about Restore Devices?

Do you have the same UI and Firmware versions installed?

It shows the red ! .

I disabled all the battery powered one.

I am using the non-pro version.

I did try to restore more than once because the battery ones and the keypad linc was not working.

I just realize that I am not using the correct UI and have updated.

Thanks for your help.

Anyone with suggestions?

I've also tried

- relocation the PLM location, which I was able to "write update to device" once. but it stop working again

- restore devices

Is it possible that the new PLM has issues?

Do you have the PLM on a "clean" circuit, no unfiltered computers, peripherals, UPSs or other electronics on the same circuit? What about the UI and firmware???

It is on a clean circuit, straight to the wall plug. I am using 4.5.4 for both UI and firmware. All my switches are dual bands and all are working properly (locally). It seems to work partially and intermittently.  The devices are shown with red !, but sometimes I can still send on/off signal using the admin console, and it would work. Once it works, the icon switch to 1011. At that time I can send "write update to the device" and the icon switch to normal operation. Then a little later, when I send a command, I will get the communication issue message again. Pretty frustrating.

Any help is much appreciated.

"Straight to the wall plug" and "clean circuit" are not the same. Are there any other electronic devices on the same circuit that you plugged the PLM into? Your indicators (!, 1010) suggest a communication problem, which could be a defective new PLM. but that's unlikely.

How many devices are involved? What are they? Which devices are OK?

Stu,  thank you for your time and effort on this.

There are other things connected to the same circuit.  The original PLM that I replace was on a surge protector and that worked fine for years.  With the new one, I tried the same setup and also direct wall plug.  Both will give an intermittent result with the direct being a bit better.  I have about 17 devices (dimmers, relay switch, 2 PIR, 2 keypads), all some time works and not.  It is not consistent on which one always work or not.

The old PLM was version1 and new is version 2.

The system has been working for years. The only thing change is the new PLM.

Plugging the PLM into a surge protector virtually wipes out powerline communication, so you'd be relying on RF only, not a great idea. You made a good choice by plugging the PM in directly to a wall outlet.

A concern is what else is on the same circuit as that wall outlet. So, what else is connected/plugged in to that circuit?

I would guess my TV, audio receiver, cable modem, router, cabinet lights, and other media devices (all of which are behind a surge protector).

A concern is why is it working fine with the old PLM but not so with the replacement.

Also, I did order a new PLM from a different supplier to test.

A=While waiting, an easy test is to unplug the surge protector. Do connect the router B)

I took your advice and relocated the ISY system to a location with little to no device connect (a spare bedroom).  The result is the same as direct wall plug from before.  I was able to fix some problem device by removing and re-adding it to the system, but it was a pain beause I had to updte all the program with it.

Update:  New PLM is here.

The new PLM work as expected. All I had to do was call the Restore Modem (PLM) command and the system is working as it was. There has to be some issue with the other new one that I got.

Thank you for your help.

Thanks for the update.

If you have a chance. Can you give us the information on white stickers. On the back of the PLM that was not working correctly.

Maybe if not too much trouble. The information on the new PLM that is OK.
