DaveStLou Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 Recently I noticed that my battery operated devices (RemoteLinc, Leak Sensors, Motion Sensors) were not communicating with my PLM. They weren't triggering programs and showed no status when I logged in to Admin Console. I tried restoring devices but no change so I ordered a new PLM. The new one (V2.2) came yesterday. I followed the directions for restoring PLM but the same devices are not communicating. I've tried restoring them individually but no change. I also noticed my on SwitchLinc Dimmer 2-Wire (2474DWH) is also not communicating. I have tried moving the PLM to another place in the house but no change. I feel like I'm missing something. Appreciate any thoughts.
paulbates Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 You've approached it the right way. Are you sure your power legs are bridged with dual band devices or a signalinc bridge? Paul
stusviews Posted August 26, 2017 Posted August 26, 2017 The old PLM may not be defective. What else did you do the test it? Do the non-communicating devices show ! or 1011?
DaveStLou Posted August 26, 2017 Author Posted August 26, 2017 Thanks paulbates & stusviews for responding. Not too long after posting the 2-wire came online so I tried updating all of the battery devices again and they all took the update and appear to be reporting now. I do have plenty of other dual band devices and for the record they showed the ! and the devices LEDs were doing the rapid flashing indicating they weren't getting a response from momma ISY. I'm going to give it a day to be sure things have settled down before I call this resolved.
Outlander Posted August 27, 2017 Posted August 27, 2017 Strange, as I was having the exact same problems minus the 2-wire issue. I was certain my PLM {V1.B} had died as it was long overdue. Got my new PLM (V2.3) and done the restore PLM a few times. All seems to be working except for the motion sensors and hidden door sensors are now the same as described in DaveStLou's original post. I do have a couple of Insteon thermostats that were recently replaced with an EcoBee4 but I have not been able to remove them yet. I thought I read something about these causing issues during a PLM restore?
DaveStLou Posted August 29, 2017 Author Posted August 29, 2017 In addition to posting here, I opened a case with Universal Devices support. Here's what they said "For battery powered devices you need to press and hold in the set button in for 5 seconds then release then follow it up with a single press and release. Thus is called multilink mode. Now once in this mode you can right click on the battery powered devices and write updates." Sharing for other who may run into this.

Outlander Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 Which did you read about causing issues, the Insteon thermostats or the Ecobees? Which have you been unable to remove? The Insteon thermostats. I am moving one over to my shop eventually. I am having larger issues after doing my PLM replacement. None of my battery operated devices are responding and none of my wired devices are reporting to the ISY although they are responding.

If not the old PLM ID would still be in the devices. http://forum.universal-devices.com/topic/19331-my-plm-died-and-i-bought-a-new-one-what-should-i-do-next/

I believe I did all that in the correct order but maybe I screwed up somewhere.
stusviews Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 It's perfectly fine to follow the correct procedure again.
Outlander Posted August 29, 2017 Posted August 29, 2017 I have tried a few times with alwyas the same result. I just tried restoring my 5.0.9 backup and then a restore devices which did get my devices working properly.
Techman Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 If all RF devices are put into the linking mode at the same time they can become cross linked. If that was the case then you should factory reset each RF device and then link them, one at a time, to the ISY. Once an RF device exits the linking mode you can put the next one into linking mode
