Switchlinc settings update triggers non-insteon Fan Switch

So, I have an odd issue... I installed a 2477d Switchlinc in a double gang box w/ a humidity sensing fan switch. Now, whenever the switchlinc has its settings updated (switch I do twice daily to change the on level), the fan cycles on and off  anywhere from 1-3 times. I really have no clue what is happening here.

Turning on the switch manually or via insteon command doesnt appear to have any affect.

If the 2477D is not controlling to the humidity fan controller.

It is possible the Insteon Power Line commands are triggering it. When you send the level changes to the 2477D.

I have seen posts where the Insteon Power Line commands are effecting things like lights on manual dimmers that are not Insteon.

More likely that the RF from the 2477 is leaking into the humidity sense circuitry on the humidity-controlled switch.  Not much you can do about that, except remove the 2477 and replace it with a standard switch.  Or replace the humidity-controlled switch.   It's NOT a good idea to try to block the RF inside the junction box -- wrapping things with aluminum foil, for example, is a recipe for a short-circuit, or a fire, but even if you get lucky and don't short anything, it may very well end up causing overheating of the devices.

Perhaps you can find an ancient power-line-only insteon switch to try?

Does the 2477D have direct control of the fan?

Nope.

Yea, that is what my guess was - I just wasnt sure if this was crazy talk or not... but seems it isnt.

Thanks, I was assuming powerline was the issue, but this could be something to try... I may actually have a 2476D somewhere. I believe I read that this is powerline only, is that correct? I also have a 2-wire, but all of sudden ISY cant communicate with it.. I think it died :(

Yes, single band and worth a try. Only use the the 2 wire when there is no neutral and you have no other option

In V5.0.10 you can turn many Insteon devices RF and/or  Powerine fuctions on and off from the Admin Console.

There are only a hand full of Insteon devices which the firmware supports the ability to select RF / Powerline to be disabled. Of the top of my head they are the dual outlet, plugin on-off relay module. None of the single band switches / KPL's have ever offered such an option. Even newer dual band switches and KPL's don't offer such an option unless something has changed recently.

Those same options are available with v4.6.1, maybe even earlier.

The two wire is RF  only.

Since it gets its power through the load. It is strictly for incandescent or 120 volt power saving halogen incandescent replacements.

Just installed a 2476D and it's definitely happening less frequently, but it is happening. I'll see how annoying this gets and if need be, replace the humidity switch. Thanks so much for your help, guys!
