edokid Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 The Wiki says you can add a Z-Wave device into an Insteon scene. I've done that, but how do I set what happens to it when the scene runs? It shows it under the devices in the scene, but when you click the controller or the scene itself, the Z-Wave devices are not listed to set their on level and so on, only Insteon. I've just done it via Program saying if KPL button is pressed, turn the Z-Wave dimmer onto 50% etc, but the wiki says you can include them in scenes, so just wondering how you do that as programs are a pain.
stusviews Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 Which version of ISY are you using. Z-Wave features are only fully supported in the Alpha 5+ version. Too, version 4+ only allows Z-Wave devices to be responders.
edokid Posted September 4, 2017 Author Posted September 4, 2017 Oh okay thanks, I'm using whatever the latest 4.x version is. I don't want it to be a controller though, I was just hoping that I could include it in a scene. Like right now I press KPL B and it sets the kitchen to 100%, den to 50% and so on with KPL B being the scene controller. When the wiki said you can include Z-Wave devices in Insteon scenes, I was hoping it meant I could also have it in that scene set to go to 20% when KPL B is pressed. Right now I do that via a program.
oberkc Posted September 4, 2017 Posted September 4, 2017 I was just hoping that I could include it in a scene. I have it in scenes, as responder, using 4.x software.. Unfortunately, my zwave devices that I use in scenes are not dimmers, so I cannot confirm ability to set responder levels. (I would have guessed this possible.)

Unfortunately, my zwave devices that I use in scenes are not dimmers, so I cannot confirm ability to set responder levels. (I would have guessed this possible.) So I noticed that it actually does turn the Z-Wave dimmer on and off if I turn the scene on and off, but what seems to be missing is the ability to actually set the level. It just doesn't show up like Insteon devices, so there doesn't seem to be a way to say that I want the Z-Wave dimmer to come on to 40% in this scene, 80% in another and so on. Using programs isn't terrible but I was kind of sold on the Wiki saying include Z-Wave devices in scenes, so bit disappointed to see that it's basically only half functional.
stusviews Posted September 5, 2017 Posted September 5, 2017 Is it possible to set the particular Z-Wave dimmer to a default On-level? I'm unable to determine that since you didn't specify which dimmer. Also, "whatever the latest 4.x version is," is really meaningless. Don't you know what you have installed? Do the UI and firmware match? That's considerably more important than the version.

I didn't specify the dimmer because I have tried about 5 and they all do the same thing. The main one I'm using is 12724 Z-Wave Dimmer. Yes you can set them to a default on level but that's not what I'm trying to do. I have 5 different scenes that run from keypads, dinner time, evening chilling, late night, etc. Each one sets the lights to a different level. I added a chandelier in the den and had a spare GE dimmer so figured I'd use that instead of buying another Switchlinc, but doesn't seem like I can set the brightness level with Insteon scenes, only that it comes on or off.
stusviews Posted September 6, 2017 Posted September 6, 2017 So, even if you set a default to other than full on, when you turn on the scene the dimmer does not turn on at the preset level?
