A few questions on the 5.X regarding zwave support

Featured Replies

Posted

I have started to buy some zwave devices since they offer better features than insteon but some do not work well (or not at all) with version 4.X. Aeotec smart switch 6 for example cannot be turned on/off , Door/Window Sensor 6 does not report status changes among other things.

Any estimate date for the 5.x branch of code supporting newer features of ZWave to be out of Beta ?

Wondering how "risky" are the 5.X Betas ...

How can we get those versions, they're not listed in any forums ...

Can we revert back to 4.X if we try 5.X and have too many issues ... Any pitfalls there ?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

You may download a copy of the latest 5.0.10 Alpha firmware here: http://forum.universal-devices.com/forum/108-50/ Please ensure you read and fully understand all of the required steps and caveats listed. Ensure you make several good copies of the existing 4.X.X firmware and store it somewhere safe like: USB Drive, Cloud Drive, etc.

5.X.X firmware is not intended for production ready environments and thus odd behavior can and will be present. Having said this, many Alpha / Beta testers have been using 5.X.X firmware for more than a year with good results.

Good luck, and Rock On . . .

I am not very techie and have been on 5.X since it came out, currently on 5.0.10. I only have Zwave devices (more than 40 light switches, fan switches, motion detectors and lamp modules)  and I do recommend 5.0.10 to you, but make sure to follow the steps as recommended by Teken.

Note that version 5+ is still in Alpha. It has not yet achieved Beta status.
